Actually the Raiders were #11 in yards allowed as a defense, and #20 in points allowed. Pretty far off from that #22.
You're correct about the offense.

Gradkowski isn't anymore a legit NFL caliber starter anymore than Tom Cable is legit NFL caliber Head Coach, THAN Robert Gallery is worth $8 million a year as a starting LG in the NFL.

For all of Gradkowski's "moxy" his arm strength just isn't something you can rely on week in and week out AND he WAS named the starter for the Miami game and promptly the Raiders lost 33-17 to a BAD Miami team and he re-injured his throwing shoulder (attached to said weak arm) and was out for the season.

Campbell on the other hand has a stronger arm and seems to be able to take a lot of hits (which is a good thing with the Raider OLs of the last eight years).

Now going into 2011 you have Campbell under contract and Gradkowski a Free Agent so guess who stays (the dude Al Davis traded for) and who goes (the dude Tom Cable is a fan of).

Is Campbell the next Drew Brees? Heck no, but he is a serviceable QB for the upcoming season with a bright offensive minded coach (Jackson) and a veteran NFL OC (Saunders). If he "flames" next season (after being given EVERY chance to be "the man), then he will let go and the search for a new QB will begin anew.

Don't worry I bet you see Gradkowski end up in Seattle backing up Charlie Whitehurst if Matt Hasselbeck doesn't re-sign and we can have ALL this discussion again (abiet in a Seahawk post) about whether Gradkowski should be a starting NFL QB or not when Whitehurst has a bad game.

@ marcsasharc

not that it really matters since you are nota raiders afn,,,but just so you know :

Jason Cambell 13 tds/ 8 picks vs Bruce 5tds/ 7 picks

JC qb rating was higher, and what really matters is Jason Cambell QB rating in the 2min offense was 79.0 vs BG 39.0. Passes over 10 yards BG was only 39.6 (only 14.6 on 30+ attempts) while Jason Cambell was 108.7 on 30+. 4th quarter BG was 58.6 while Jason was 97.8. (The ot game Jason had a rating of 118)

In the game that BG got the win vs san diego he was only 1 for 7 with a 14.3 qb rating....the w is a w, but it was a bad game for him.

My biggest problem with Bruce is that he is barely 6 feet tall, and gets a lot of passes deflected from the line. What I love about him is the passion. That is my biggest concewrn with Jason , is just his lack of raw emotion. I will say once the raiders decided to make Jason the starter , he played much better.

hahahaha. how can anybody question my intelligence when "he was 1-3 as a starter" is their best response to their disagreement in my opinion? Jason Campbell was 7-5. Bruce was 1-3. ya, you guys are totally right. there is NO WAY he is better than that great QB named Jason Campbell.

cant even use relevant statistics, or an actual informed opinion for that matter?

they also had the 23rd ranked passing offense and the #2 ranked rushing offense. clearly, thinking that Gradkowski is a better option than Campbell is not only justifiable, but a sound argument can and is made in saying that. many, and ill even say most, fans outside of Raider nation dont think Campbell is very good and believe there was a better option on the bench last season.

the best part is, you actually thought you said something with your response to that other dude. carry on, degenerate.

Oh this is one oif the best to read in a long time...where do you start..I guess first is Mike?PFT thinking players are going to be UFA's after only 4 years....hold your breathand cross your fingers on that one. secondly all the post that Bruce is a better QB than Jason. Jason has a chance to be a starter, while Bruce is to short, and not strong enough to be a starter. Don't get me wrong , I love Bruce's energy, and tenacity, but he is nothing more than an NFL backup. Hopefully it is with the raiders. The best one is the chiefs fan. I would take Bruce and Jason both over Cassell........All you need to do is watch the last game of the year at arrowhead. Chiefs were going to the playoffs, and the raiders beat the crap out of them. Cassell was 11 for 33, 2 picks, and was laid out 7 times in the game....lmao

I was with you until you referenced Jason Whitlock. You lost all credibility at that point. $hitlock is a d-bag.
2011:
Chiefs 10-6
Chargers 8-8
Raiders 7-9
Broncos 5-11

But realize the top three are only separated by 3 games. A fumble here, a missed field goal there and any one of the three could win the division. If the Broncos do actually start Tebow they might end up as spoilers for the others but after the J-Mac debacle they won't seriously contend for the division until they can repair his trainwreck.

Bottom line - Gradkowski can not stay healthy. He's his own worst enemy because he can't get down and avoid the big hits. Love his passion, and appreciate the way he plays the game - the guy is a warrior, but there is no way he's going to put in a 16 game season. Love his passion, and appreciate the way he plays the game – the guy is a warrior, but there is no way he’s going to put in a 16 game season. Keep up the circus raiders! The one team I was worried about beating my beloved chiefs is now back to business as usual….. Sucking. You are really going to let the one guy in the QB position that rallied his troops go? Your letting the #2 corner in the league go?? You let the head coach that got you to 8-8 and beat the division??? What a complete self destruction unfolding this offseason. I don’t care about gallery, he sucks and is a bust. You could have had rothlesburger that year. Dumb asses.

*********************************************************
This wins the award for the dumbest anti-Raider post of the year. Where to begin? A rah-rah guy is fine and dandy if he can make the tough throws and can stay healthy, two things Gradkowski can’t do. We may lose Nnamdi, but that 17 million owed was distributed to the host of free agents that we had (Seymour, Henderson, Routt). Tom Cable? Raider fans know that Hue Jackson was the real reason for the Raiders improvement this season. The guy finally found a way to properly utilize Darren McFadden’s talents by moving away from Cable’s ZBS and going with a power scheme. Cable was the figurehead, Jackson was the talent. If anything, we upgraded the offensive coaching staff by promoting Jackson to HC and hiring Al Saunders (who, as a Chiefs fan, you should know something about). Gallery was a bust at LT, but was an above average guard. He was expendable as he couldn’t stay healthy and was more suited to the ZBS that we phased out.

DITTO!! roscoepcoaltrain86 is still reeling from the lowly Raiders beating the Chefs TWICE, then laying down in the playoffs... Get ready to lose two more to Oakland again this year, chump!...

People should get caught up with QB W-L ratios b/c they are a farce.
The few winning seasons that Vick has with the Falcons all helped his W-L record but they were all due to the defense playing out of their skull, yet MLB Jessie Tuggle doesn't have a W-L record, just Vick.......

As for the Campbell v. Gradkowski
In the '10 game vs Pittsburgh, Campbell went 7 for 19 whereas Gradkowski went 13 for 24, in the '09 game vs Pittsurgh Gradkowski went 20 for 33 for 300+ yds and 3 TDs, 2 TD passes n the 4th vs the NL's #1 defense.

Gradkowski is the better option b/c he has the moxie, the physical skills, and can read defenses. Campbell has some size but cannot read defenses, he is a Garrard clone IMO orr one ccould consider him to be a black Trent Dilfer. He can manage games but will never take you anywhere.

I could see the Steelers bringing in Gradkowski to replace Batch and Leftwich.

He had some great moments, but his arm strength was spotty AT BEST and he just can't stay healthy (Davis specifically mentioned Bruce's inablity to stay health at the press conference "to end all press conferences").

Strong armed QBs have a tough time coming back from shoulder injuries and I don't think ANYONE could confuse Gradkowski for a "strong armed QB".

Plus he seems to be better coming off the bench to spark a team verses being a 16 game starter.

Besides Davis AND Hue Jackson are both Campbell fans (for better or worse) so it makes ZERO sense for the team to keep Bruce and have Campbell worry about his teammates/fans rooting for Bruce to come in after the Campbell throws his first INT in 2011.

With Cable gone now and Bruce NOT being the prototypical "Al Davis QB" he most likely will move on.

Where ever he ends up, the last two years certainly solidified him as a legit NFL backup for the next few years.

My guess is they let Kyle Boller go also, sign Charlie Frye (team loves his passion and work ethic) and draft a developmental QB with their second round pick (if some one falls out of the first round) or in the third or fourth round.
