The salary cap is gone, but it’ll be back. And when it is, the Eagles will need someone else to figure the thing out.
Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com reports that salary cap analyst Adam Katz has left the team to return to law school.
The departure leaves G.M. Howie Roseman and president Joe Banner as the only contract negotiators under contract with the team.
It’s not a problem for now, since no contracts are being negotiated.
UPDATE: A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that Katz departed on February 15. He will be pursuing a law degree and an MBA at Penn, and he plans to do volunteer work before classes start. He was replaced by Derron Harris.

They probably have some Goodwill Hunting type janitor in mind…
Great…..More responsibility for GM Howie Roseman…Quick, someone remind me again what exactly his credentials are to become a General Manager in the National Football League, i mean besides being Banner’s hand puppett….
can someone forward the job announcement to me.. seems like a relatively easy position considering the fact that the Eagles always pick up young hurt players that they dont pay much.. and free agency is a lost art in Philly…
This is all Vicks fault….lol
It shouldn’t be that difficult to tell the next guy in line to never pay for a healthy player. There is no value in that.
@jw731
former job titles of howie roseman:
-salary cap and staff counsel
-director of football administration
-vice president of football administration
-vice president of player personnel
all of them with the eagles since 2000. he obviously knows the current organization and how to manage football operations considering that hes been here for 11 years, all with andy reid. shut your ignorant mouth and think before you say something next time.
Big hit to my iggles. They have won the Super Bowl of cap space more often than the Lombardi Trophy.
Salary Cap guy gone? They’ll survive
The rest of the league thanks the Game Clock Manager for sticking around though…………

Give it a rest roscoe, he’s Banners hand puppett, simple as that. Do you actually think Andy Reid, the all-knowing God of football would have hired him? Doesn’t he answer to Reid on personel decisions?..What exactly is he Gm’ing then?. You think he actually just deals with him cause he’s banners bitch, or you think he takes his opinions seriously? Fry cooks have worked at McDonalds for 11 years, what’s you’re point?
Jeez…we keep cycling through these cap guys. For everything I’ve seen, Katz was doing a solid job, getting negotiations done when we needed em. And we weren’t hurting for cap space, so he was obviously doing something right. Why can’t we just hold onto him for a bit longer. Come on…who needs law school when you’re negotiating contracts for NFL superstars???
All I know is we have to find a new contract negotiator soon…who knows when the new CBA is going to get solidified. Howie Roseman, get Katz back!!!
Howie is only a GM so Banner/Reid/Laurie have someone to fire when they fail at getting a SuperBowl trophy….again.
They can’t fire Andy…..he still has season ticket sell-outs. As long as the stadium is full, beer is consumed, parking lots are filled and jerseys purchased, then Mr. Laurie is happy as a clam! Money is more important than championships in Philadelphia Management.
I do feel sorry for their fans….most of the time.
Joe Banner is the Eagles cap expert! Always has been the main cap guy in the Eagles front office (ever since Andy took over). Of course the rules more then likely are changing but if they don’t we are not going to be impacted by this move! Banner’s been credited for being one of the first NFL front office guyto figure out how to work the cap to the team’s advantage. Go Birds!
all these post are on point..
how can a pencil pusher truly evaluate talent and heart.
You can joke about it but, this is more of a loss than you know.
Im with you, Phillyphan99. The Eagles’ cap situation is now the strongest that it has ever been thanks to the work Katz has done. I think this loss is really gonna hurt. After law school maybe he can fix the 76ers?
He was replaced by Derron Harris
lemme guess, Darron was a water boy before this new job of salary cap expert?!?! ALA Juan Castillo!?!?!!?
