Seriously though, I agree with you about the other elements of his game and those will be evaluated but I am not sure he will do much better in those areas…

Despite my feelings about Cam Newton being a cheater or a thief, I still believe he is the real deal. He has only been a starting quarterback for a short while, and he has great potential. My prediction is that he will win a Super Bowl within 5 years. You heard it hear first.

When one really takes into account his character issues (which are very significant), lack of accuracy in passing drills, and overall lack of experience, it is amazing to think that he could possibly be drafted in the first round, let alone first overall. He’s an amazing athlete and had a historic ONE year of college, but geez…If my team drafted him first overall, I would quit being a fan (this coming from a Lions fan, ’nuff said).

This kid is a QB who happens to be the best athlete on the field, and the NFL NEEDS HIM. They need star players with ability to exceed, help other teams and sell jerseys and drive revenue. They need Cam Newton, Blaine Gabbert and any other QB to be phenomenal. QB play around the league SUCKS, PERIOD. Why else does Brady, Manning and Rothlisberger rise to the top every playoff year? Their reign is ending, and the next wave of franchise QB’s must come through.

People can hate all they want but in 5 years Mr Newton will be the face of the NFL barring injury, what everyone fails to realize is this kid is a QB who happens to be the best athlete on the field, with the proper coaching this kid will be a monster. I just hope he doesn’t get the same lack of coaching that set guys like Randall Cunningham and Mike Vick years behind other QB’s. That is real football talk for you people who hate just for the hell of it.

I’ve come to accept the fact that these writers realize they can get a lot more leverage from being negative towards Cam than telling the truth.

Cam threw in the wind and did much better than he did indoors. And technically only 6 misses were his fault the others were the receivers not catching the ball. If the ball is in your hand you need to hold unto it.

Well since most of his NFL games will be outdoors, I’ll say he did DAMN FINE.

Can’t wait to read all the excuses you guys will be making when Blaine does his drills. Let the Blaine hyping rally begin.

Still, the general consensus is that Newton has made major strides since the Combine. NFL Network’s Mike Mayock had the most glowing review of Tuesday’s Pro Day.

“This kid can drive the football,” said Mayock. “He can drive it on the deep, outbreaking comeback, he can drive it on the inbreaking Bang-8 or dig route.

“He can make every throw.”

Made major strides in a couple weeks? That passing performance(where he blamed everyone else) wasn’t hard to improve on. “He can make every throw”, but can he be accurate, not just have an arm. See Patrick Ramsey for example. All-time arm, but couldn’t get it through the window on the barn.

Seems to me, a majority of scouts are giving him just a fair review hoping his draft spot will drop a few more to grab him for themselves.

With a little coaching, Newton will be a sure NFL starter with a good chance of elite status. He has got what it takes.

I always say, if the ball hits the receiver’s hands, then they should have caught it. So 53/60 is an 88.33% completion percentage. Not too bad. He is a rook afterall.
