Ndamukong Suh has Lions fans feeling optimistic after a season in which he won the defensive rookie of the year award and the Lions won their last four games.

But you’d be hard-pressed to find any Lions fan who’s as optimistic as Suh himself.

Asked on NFL Network if he thinks the sky is the limit for the Lions, Suh answered, “No question.” And then he let loose with an extremely confident assertion.

“I don’t see there’s a reason why we can’t be 16-0,” Suh said. “As long as we put in that hard work throughout -– I don’t know if we’re going to have OTAs, but throughout camp and getting ready for that 2011 season -- as long as we stay healthy and are putting in that work, I think we should be happy with what we end up with.”

The Lions haven’t had a winning record since 2000, the year before Matt Millen was hired as team president, so Detroit fans would be happy if the Lions just end up at 9-7.

But 16-0, three years after the Lions went 0-16? I’m going to go ahead and say Suh is being slightly unrealistic. Even if I admire his confidence.
