Santonio says he’ll “sign back with the Jets”

Santonio Holmes, Kyle Arrington

Traded to the Jets last year after catching a four-game suspension for his latest violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy, receiver Santonio Holmes plans to remain with the team despite being on track for free agency.

According to the New York Post, Holmes posted a video on Facebook in which he says he indicates an intention to return to the team.

Speaking from a room filled with his Steelers’ memorabilia, Holmes says, “Sorry Jets fans, that not enough Jets stuff is here, but trust me, as soon as I sign back with the Jets, everything will be taken care of.”

The Jets placed the highest possible restricted free agency tender on Holmes, who likely will be eligible for unrestricted free agency if/when the CBA is resolved.

And while Holmes seems to be willing to return, there’s a chance that another team will be willing to overpay for his services, which could suddenly make the Jets look less attractive.  Despite his off-field issues, Holmes has become one of the best clutch receivers in the league.

The jets aren’t letting Holmes go anywhere. One way or another he will be back with the team. They would be foolish to let him go. He made big play after big play last year and won about 3 games for them in the final minutes of games they were losing or tied in.

He’s always been clutch on the field. It has just been a matter of his decision making off the field that has left people shaking their heads.

The Texans need to make a run at Holmes

The Jets are going to be loaded next year !

Wrecks Ryan has guaranteed another Super Bowl win !

At WR, Holmes, Edwards, Ochocinco and TO and any other player that wants to play for the best HC in the NFL

    Nmandi & Revis at corner.

Get the Lombardi shined up ! Ready for its place with all the other Lombardi’s.

Oops, can you say CBA/Salary cap for 2011 and beyond for a team that has 40% FA’s?

This Jet fan would love for the Texans to sign Holmes. Armed with an extra #1 and #3 pick Tannanbaum can get some quality talent cheap.

Holmes is better than any WR in the draft this year (and last year) and the Jets obtained him, and will keep him, for last years 5th round pick.

    Talk about value.

As a Dolphin fan I couldn’t be happier with Holmes staying with the Jets. Thanks to the wide open drop he had in the game against the Phins it sealed the Jets fate and Tony Sparano got his third win in four games against Rex Ryan and that pathetic franchise he coaches.

If we’re pathetic, what does that make you?

    Oh right, forever 7-9.

    6. Leonard Hankerson

and that is just this years draft! I forgot Jet fans always think there overrated players are the best in the league, which is why they make ignorant comments like the one you just made.

    @305phinphan

what is wrong with you. Holmes was a superbowl mvp. How could you want 6 unproven rookies over him haha. He has showed his whole career that hes a big game player and makes huge plays at critical moments. You are a idiot!! You say the jets are a pathetic franchise when you cheer for the dolphins who are way worse than the jets could ever be. Your owner didnt even want sparano back as coach and your gonna say hes better than ryan. What has he done better as a coach than ryan has? nothing, and if your glad that holmes will be back with the jets than you really know nothing about football or what kind of player he is. GET A CLUE!! Have fun finishing 3rd again this season

    @305

    *sigh*

You see, Santonio Holmes is a veteran reciever with the talent to make tons of huge plays. He’s got chemistry with our locker room, and we got him for a 5th, which is quite a steal, considering he’s our #1 WR. All of those players you named are untested in the NFL level (because college dominance equals NFL dominance, right? Hello Mr. Gholston!) and will all go in the 1st, maybe into the 2nd round.

Unfortunately for you, the Phools can’t draft to save their sorry franchise and you will see none of those players in teal and orange. Next time, before you come to make fun of the Jets you should look at the mess in your own backyard first.

Your really sounding like a true hater.. You wish the dolphins were in the posistion the jets were in and have played in the big games they have the last two years. You guys are going nowhere with that bum a** qb and coach of yours.

Are you seriously talking? Sparano celebrates field goals like he just won the Super Bowl. Chad Henne is a clown and the Dolphins just plain suck. So do all of us (including your Miami comrads) a favor and just STFU. You sound ridiculous.

Wow, that’s about the dumbest statement anyone could make… especially from someone who’s team traded two 2nd round picks for Marshall last year.

What you’re saying is you’d rather have any of the top 6 WR prospects over a proven NFL winner and SB MVP?

What about the top 5 picks last year: Dez Bryant, Golden Tate, Demaryius Thomas, Arrelious Benn… you’d rather have them? Or 2009: Crabtree, Maclin, Heyward-Bey, Brian Robiskie… Rather all them them over Holmes?

What’s ridiculously overrated are draft prospects and especially WRs. I’ll take the proven commodity.

    Winning. Duh.

How many times has Rex Ryan’s Yets beat the Dolphins? ONCE out of FOUR! The Dolphins have more of a wining history then the Yets do. When is the last time the Yets won a AFC East championship or a Superbowl? Last I checked Miami has done it more recently then the Yets have.

As far as Henne goes, Yet fans have no room to say anything because that QB that “sucks” so bad has a wining record over your 6th overall draft pick Sanchez (who might I add is nobody special) All you Yet fans come talk to me when you win SOMETHING or at least beat the Dolphins more then 1 time in two years.

  17. rushbacker says: Mar 8, 2011 1:45 PM

The Jets should prioritize re-signing him, he’s a good fit there. His downfield speed is a nice compliment to their grind-it-out offense, he has good chemistry with Sanchez and has shown a knack for making big plays late in games, and the New York market is big enough to overshadow Holmes’ occasional idiocy.

How many playoff games have the Fins won since Rex took over the Jets? No one cares how many times you beat a team in the regular season if it doesn’t produce anything in the playoffs. And are you really bragging about having won a Super Bowl more recently than the Jets when the Fins last championship was in 74?

How many playoff games has Henne won u dumba** . Last time i checked sanchez has 4 on the road. All you have to brag about it the regular season. Your team can even make the playoffs are you kidding me!!You are crazy man. Wasnt henne benched last year. He SUCKS get over it

  20. 305phinphan says: Mar 8, 2011 4:24 PM

Just like it doesn’t matter if the Dolphins beat the Jets during the regular season, it doesn’t matter how many playoff games the Yets win if there are not holding up the Lombardi trophy at the end of the season.

Yet fans are the biggest group of ignorant fans in all of sports. None of you make sense! At least the Yets win playoff games…LMAO Who cares? Win a Superbowl or at the very least the AFC Championship THEN come talk to me!

Look at how many thumbs down you have on every one of your comments. Your the only one who looks ignorant. You havent made one good valid point in anyone of those comments. Keep hating. You say Sparano has won 3 out of 4 against Ryan. Let me ask you how many games has sparano won against belichick. How bout how many games has he won against belichick in the playoffs? Right the dolphins cant even get in the playoffs.
