Mark Sanchez throws at Colorado Pro Day

NFL scouts who turned out to today’s Colorado Pro Day observed something unexpected: Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez throwing passes in wide receiver drills.

The Denver Post reports that Sanchez was throwing to wide receiver Scotty McKnight, a close friend since childhood.

Sanchez said last year that he thinks McKnight is going to be a good NFL player.

He’s pretty good, man,” Sanchez said. “I think he’s like a Wes Welker. He’s smart. He studies. He knows football really well. He definitely has a coach’s feel for the game.”

McKnight was timed in the 4.47-second range in the 40-yard dash.

After watching him throw, Jets scouts downgraded him to a 3rd round pick before realizing they had already drafted him.

Another white guy comparison to Wes Welker.

He was trying to impress some little girls.

Dont understand why he can throw to College WR’s but its been reported that Blaine Gabbert cant use guys in the NFL like Danario Alexander or Jeremy Maclin.

I’m glad Sanchez was there for his friend. NFL scouts are always interested in how WR prospects react to being overthrown by a mile.

He was there to distract everyone while Rex cleaned out the buffet cart.

Haters will be haters but Sanchez is loved by us jets fans and here in NY. This will be Marks year where he is really gonna shut everyone up. He has been through alot of big games and ups and downs his first two years. He is a very hard worker and he studies hard, he is always praised for it by the jets coaches. He wants to get better and he loves the game. He improved a ton in year two compared to year one. This is gonna be his third year now in the system and he has even more big game experience. You people can say what you want but Sanchez is clutch. He proved it last year more than once at the end of games and in the OT games. If you look at his playoff stats they are very good from the last two seasons to. He has 4 playoff wins in the last two seasons. Thats more than alot of qbs have in this league. Thats what i like to see from my young QB. Hes only going to keep getting better he is still very young. So say what you want cause ive seen enough out of him in his first two seasons to know that he is def a franchise qb.

He’s most likely hoping for a draft do-over.

In two years, the saying will be “He’s pretty good, man. I think he’s like JORDY NELSON!”

    GO PACK GO!

Colorado CB Jimmy Smith recorded two pick-six’s during Pro Day.

    Coincidence? I think not.

He does catch 75% of the passes that hit him right in the hands.

So what we can take away from this story is that the Jets will sign him as an undrafted free agent, then they wont be able to find a use for him. He will eventually end up on the Patriots roster, sort of like Woodhead, lol

Without the use of Fuji cameras NE continues to be one and done in the playoffs.

I much prefer a young QB who spends his off season with teammates (personally paying for his WRs and TEs to go to California for a passing camp he created) and helping friends then a playboy off partying in Brazil.

Whatever. Name a vikes WR that can even match that! You can’t, can you? You know why? Because your team is terrible. Yur WRs are terrible. Your QB is… wait, you don’t even have a QB! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

How many Super Bowls have you won?

Scouts were impressed by McKnight, but didn’t think the short Hispanic kid who was throwing to him would ever amount to much.

    @Carl –

Clever retort. I especially enjoyed the unique spelling of “your.” Maybe you should lay off the paint thinner for a while.

Does this mean Sanchez has stopped “dating” high school seniors and moved on to college freshmen?

You’ve gotta be kidding me- another “How many Super Bowls have you won” reply? How old are you, kid? Oh, and btw, unless you play for the Packers or any other championship team, YOU haven’t won any Super Bowls.

At 4.47, he better be smart.

  24. trollaikman8 says: Mar 10, 2011 11:37 AM

Let me guess, Sanchez went 11-23, 112 yards and 2 ints returned. Maybe a delay of game or two as well.

  25. trollaikman8 says: Mar 10, 2011 11:40 AM

    p.s…. 4.47 is pretty fast.

I’m 35, retired early, and living comfortably on my prime lakefront property. Thank you very much. And, as part owner, I can most certainly say that I have, in fact, won the SB.
