By most accounts, Auburn’s Cam Newton had a solid, but unspectacular Pro Day.

ESPN’s Todd McShay thought defensive tackle Nick Fairley, on the other hand, put on a show. McShay said on Sportscenter he was “blown away” by Fairley’s work in position drills, especially his footwork.

“His burst out of every cut and change of direction was remarkable,” McShay wrote on ESPN.com, noting that a 297-pound player rarely looks so fluid and explosive.

There are still questions about Fairley’s focus that could push him down the draft board. McShay’s co-hort Mel Kiper said he can’t see those concerns pushing Fairley any further than No. 8 overall, which sounds about right.

In this muddled draft, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Fairley go anywhere in the top eight because his talent is obvious.
