Steelers don’t share Tiki Barber’s interest

Tiki Barber may be interested in ending his NFL retirement and signing with the Steelers, but the Steelers don’t share Barber’s interest in getting a deal done.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the Steelers have no interest in Barber.

Technically, Barber remains under contract to the Giants, although the Giants have already announced that they’ll release him as soon as teams are allowed to make personnel moves.

The soon-to-be 36-year-old Barber says he’ll be healthy, in shape and ready to go for the 2011 season. So far there’s been no confirmed interest from any team.

    Who would of thought?

There are probably 31 other teams that arent interested, the ONLY reason I think he would get signed is if a team had 2 or 3 serious injuries in pre-season or early regular season.

Barber’s Total Medal Count remains at zero.

  4. pftard says: Mar 10, 2011 4:41 PM

It’s looking more and more like Tiki’s wanted by the NFL as much as he’s wanted at home by his wife.

  5. tenotnamedmiller says: Mar 10, 2011 4:45 PM

Shame. He’d be great for that team. Until Steelers would get pregnant with twins.

Nobody cares if you’re interested in playing!

  13. dgforreal says: Mar 10, 2011 4:54 PM

I didn’t follow his post football career that much, but wasn’t he pretty critical of pretty much every team?

If so, how does he think anyone will touch him now?

  14. hobartbaker says: Mar 10, 2011 4:55 PM

Roethlisberger says the Steeler’s don’t want to soil their public image.

  15. dawkinseffect says: Mar 10, 2011 4:56 PM

how quickly the mighty have fallen.

but think of this, as soon as Tiki leaves a team, they win the Superbowl. so it might be in someones best interest to sign him to a 1 year deal.

  19. losangeleschargers17 says: Mar 10, 2011 4:59 PM

Im sure Al Davis is interested in this old crusty running back, he always has had a way of overpaying players that can never play again

  20. hobartbaker says: Mar 10, 2011 5:01 PM

In the real world Tiki might be considered to be going through a mid life crisis. In football he is considered to be going through an after life crisis.

I don’t understand, after all the bridges this guy has burned and after what he put his wife through-what in the world would make him think ANYONE would have him on their team?

  29. pioniere says: Mar 10, 2011 5:23 PM

Don’t go away mad Tiki… just go away!!

  30. bluefan204 says: Mar 10, 2011 5:25 PM

He dug his own grave with his smug, arrogant atitude in front of the cameras. When you rip your former team/coach in pretty much every way, other players/coaches are watching, and remembering. Now he’s learning that sometimes, you have to shut the hell up about certain things, despite being paid for airing your opinions.

  31. thefiesty1 says: Mar 10, 2011 5:31 PM

    Well, DUH!

  32. Deb says: Mar 10, 2011 5:40 PM

Oh good grief! Finally get a chance to check in to PFT only to discover another celebrity has lost his mind. Thank goodness it’s Tiki Barber and not anyone connected to the Steelers. Did Barber really think the Rooneys would pick up an over-the-hill prima donna who tried to make his broadcasting bones by gutting his former team–one with which the Rooneys have family ties?

  33. thingamajig says: Mar 10, 2011 5:44 PM

If he’s lucky he might end up as camp fodder somewhere. Jets? Could give Ryan something else to blab about.

  34. jbythebay says: Mar 10, 2011 5:45 PM

    I’d rather have Herschel Walker

  35. rayjayjohnsonjr says: Mar 10, 2011 5:49 PM

Sorry, Sneaky Tiki, but what goes around comes around. Get it? Your rentless bashing of the Giants has shown everyone your petty ways and no one wants any part of your garbage now. Good riddance.

  36. mswravens says: Mar 10, 2011 6:00 PM

Too bad – I woulda loved to see him poison that locker room. Unfortunately, Steelers are too smart for that…

  37. jhaugjr says: Mar 10, 2011 6:01 PM

So, what we now know is that when Tiki farts, that Paul Schwartz of the Post has a new waft of cologne

  38. starderup says: Mar 10, 2011 6:10 PM

He should do what you do at a high school dance when you walk across the floor and get turned down.
Step back a couple times, and say loudly, “Give you five dollars for WHAT??? I don’t even know you!”

  39. skoronski says: Mar 10, 2011 6:11 PM

    Karma, still undefeated

  40. mistrezzrachael says: Mar 10, 2011 6:29 PM

Tiki..you’re getting alot of love out here!!!

Whats the matter??? Child support got you buried???

Cannot think of ANY team who’d want a washed away fumbler…who ALSO has a big mouth.

  41. bearsfan63 says: Mar 10, 2011 6:38 PM

Hersall Walker has more upside and miles left in the tank, Sorry Tiki nobody wants an old has been who barely ever was even in his prime, Let alone at 36. I guess he’s plenty sorry he missed out on that Super Bowl ring. maybe he can do a combo morning show and CFL gig in Canada.

  42. handlethehandles says: Mar 10, 2011 6:58 PM

In related news the Steelers are also not interested in Jeff George Larry Johnson or Emmit Smith…

  43. txhc says: Mar 10, 2011 7:00 PM

    “jbythebay says:

    I’d rather have Herschel Walker”

Took the words right out of my mouth. I’d much rather see him seriously attempt a comeback than Tiki Barber. Walker is damn near 50 and is still a physical machine.

  44. gpete1962 says: Mar 10, 2011 10:18 PM

Tiki’s going to assume a new position on the Steeler’s

“BROKE BACK” Double pun intended !!!

  45. dansullivan82 says: Mar 10, 2011 11:21 PM

UFL ….. actually he sounds like a fit in washington.

  46. bleedgreen4life says: Mar 10, 2011 11:42 PM

I think it’s safe to say Herschel Walker will draw more looks than this scrub.

  47. polamalusboyfriend says: Mar 11, 2011 7:08 AM

    Why would they want him?

They choked just fine without him.

  48. lucky5927 says: Mar 11, 2011 8:27 AM

  49. knightringonow says: Mar 11, 2011 8:54 AM

When you rip your former team/coach in pretty much every way, other players/coaches are watching, and remembering.

Oh, very smug doesn’t help and then leaving a pregnant wife for the epitome of a mediocre blonde 24 year old…NBC didn’t want you, Giants don’t want you, no one wants you.

Don’t hear “The Barber Shop” on Sirius/XM anymore either so again, NO ONE WANTS YOU, you big phony.

What hubris to think that anyone WOULD want him.
