Getty ImagesThe Denver Post reported Friday that “several teams” around the NFL are now insisting Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers’ January knee surgery was more serious than the player has claimed.
Bowers told reporters at last month’s Scouting Combine that he was “100 percent,” but actions speak louder than words. Bowers delayed his Pro Day workout from March 10 to April 1, and there has even been speculation that he might not be ready then.
The Denver Post‘s story comes on the heels of a far more detailed Bowers report from CBS Sports’ Clark Judge.
Citing a scout at the Combine, Judge reported Thursday that Bowers was “flagged” on his medical check in Indianapolis. The condition of Bowers’ knee “had the doctor concerned,” which an unnamed AFC coach later confirmed.
Added one AFC general manager, “I do know the knee’s a concern. It’s something that a lot of guys were talking about (on the Pro Day circuit). But you’re always going to get stuff like that at this time of the year. Some if it’s real, and some of it is imagined.
“But a ‘medical’ is pretty easy to clear up.”
