On Thursday afternoon, NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith promised an update on labor negotiations on Friday at 2 p.m. ET.

Well, it’s 2:15 p.m. ET and Smith is reportedly on a conference call as we type, according to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News.

Silence has been golden on this Friday, with apparent progress being made in the talks.  We should have an update on where things stand very shortly.

UPDATE: The union’s television crew has arrived on the scene, indicating Smith will be talking soon.
