Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith continues to be one of the more talked about prospects in this draft class.

The PFT Live guest is seen as a top-15 talent, but Mike Mayock of NFL Network only ranked him No. 30 overall because of his inconsistency. Character concerns also continue to plague Smith.

Tony Pauline of SI.com and DraftInsider.net reports that a “number of teams” have taken Smith off their draft boards because of his previous arrests and attitude. Teams at the Combine reportedly didn’t like that Smith didn’t take responsibility for or directly address his issues in interviews.

Of course, teams could also be spreading negative things about Smith in hopes of seeing him slip in the draft. Smith visited the Lions last week, and it still wouldn’t shock us to see him go in the top 20 picks.

Talent usually trumps character concerns for at least one team on draft day.
