Quanis Phillips, a former dog fighting co-defendant of Michael Vick who was shot outside Vick’s birthday party last year, is expected to appear in court today on a probation issue that includes whether he lied about contact with Vick.

The Associated Press reports that Phillips will appear before U.S. District Court Judge Henry Hudson because Phillips’ probation officer says he lied about speaking with Vick at the birthday party, failed to report run-ins with police, skipped a mental health appointment and tested positive for marijuana.

Phillips is the longtime associate of Vick’s who reportedly got into an altercation with Vick at his birthday party, then got shot afterward. No one has ever been charged in that shooting.

Hudson sentenced Phillips to 21 months in prison and three years of probation in 2007.
