Bills break bread with Blaine Gabbert

On Thursday, Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert will show scouts what he can do.  On Wednesday night, he displayed his table skills with employees of the Buffalo Bills.

Per Gil Brandt of NFL.com, Gabbert grabbed some grub with G.M. Buddy Nix and others.  Brandt didn’t say whether coach Chan Gailey attended the meal.

Brandt reports that early arrivals included Jets coach Rex Ryan, Titans G.M. Mike Reinfeldt, coach Mike Munchak, and offensive coordinator Chris Palmer are present, along with Lions G.M. Martin Mayhew.

Gabbert will be having an early lunch on Friday with PFT Live.  He’ll join the show as our Segment 3 guest.

  1. Somewhere Brad Smith has got to be wondering why Gabbert’s not being worked out at wide receiver instead of QB.

Smith was the better QB at the same school but for some reason he’s out in New York as the 4th WR when not running an occasional ‘wildcat’ play.

    Makes you wonder…

  2. Paid off writers supporting this cruel hoax, this guy is the last guy I’d draft in the top 20 picks.

  3. No it doesnt make me wonder and stop trying to throw race into every quarterback discussion. Being a good college qb does not equate to a good NFL QB. A great example of this is Gino Torretta.

  4. I have seen comparisons between Gabbert and Matt Jones (minus the drug usuage) with the measurables and Jones during the combine worked out as a QB and WR. But then again Gabbert didn’t do any drills at all at the combines

  5. any other bills fans happy to wait a year and see what fitz and chan can muster with fitz as a day 1 starter? bills need that 3 pick on d badly. i’d prefer someone to help stop the run, or you know, actually have some sort of pass rush.

i have no problem drafting a developmental qb if say mallett drops to the 2nd, or kapernick later, but if anyone thinks theres a ready-made starter in this years draft who will out perform fitz next season, well you see something i don’t

  6. I don’t believe Gabbert is a day one starter, but a year or two behind Fitzpatrick and we have our Franchise QB. Diamond in the rough, wherever he lands he will make an eventual impact.
