Sally Jenkins wrote in the Washington Post this week that taxpayers should sue the NFL if games are missed in 2011 because of all the public money used in building stadiums.
That won’t be necessary in Tampa.
The St. Petersburg Times reports that the Buccaneers have agreed to help replace lost stadium revenue if the NFL cancels its season.
Hillsborough County commissioners unanimously approved an agreement with the team that the Bucs will provide an interest-free amount equal to what money would be lost on ticket surcharges at Raymond James Stadium.
It’s an appropriate gesture from the Bucs that we could see repeated elsewhere. The proposal goes before the Tampa City Council Thursday.
