Repairs begin on Metrodome roof

Better late than never (though the Vikings may prefer never than late), repairs to the Metrodome roof finally have begun, more than three months after it collapsed like a spinach souffle under the weight of a snowstorm.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that a New York contractor will be paid $18 million for “substantially completing” the job before the Vikings’ play their first preseason game on August 1.

Of course, the contractor may end up getting some extra time to do the job, given the current labor dispute.

Meanwhile, the Vikings continue to pursue a new stadium. Until the new stadium is built, they need to find a way to make the Metrodome work.
