Alge Crumpler was all over the field in the Patriots’ playoff loss to the Jets: He scored a touchdown, he dropped a touchdown pass and he saved a touchdown by catching Jets linebacker David Harris from behind on an interception return.
And now we know he was doing it all while playing through a significant shoulder injury.
Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that Crumpler underwent surgery in late January for a significant injury to his shoulder. He’s now rehabbing, and it’s not known when he’ll be back at full strength.
According to Young, Crumpler played much of the season with the injury. That’s interesting because Crumpler wasn’t listed on the Patriots’ injury report. (The Patriots did remember to list Tom Brady’s injured shoulder, though.)
This is the second time this offseason that it’s been revealed that a Patriots tight end is recovering from surgery; Aaron Hernandez showed up to a school appearance on crutches last month and revealed he had hip surgery.
