I've been reading this blog for years and it's very clear to me that most of the current set of anti-player commentators are a part of a planned tactic.

That's because this blog sticks out like a sore thumb. Virtually every other sports blog in the country has the majority of fans in support of the players. This one does not.

Secondly the vast majority of the anti-player comments here contain zero mention of team affiliation, football appreciation, or any other key markers of football fans. In other words, these are not football fans writing. In this stream several do not even know who Mike Vrabel is.

Thirdly, they are nearly all newly created id's. Maybe they just recently switched their names like I did but I find that very surprising. So surprising that I don't believe it.

Mr F.l.o.r.i.o should check this out because he does run the risk of alienating his long term fan base that clearly are deserting the board while these temporary "fans" take over.

Why are so many people on the players side about health insurance? When you leave a job/get fired/retire etc, most companies give you access to COBRA and then you are on your own. These players are no different and the owners should not have to fund healthcare for life of these players? Its a violent game. Players no that and accept that when they sign a contract for a minimum of $300K per year. Live life liek the rest of the country
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
I'll tell you why believe that players should have lifetime heavily subsidized insurance under a policy provided by the NFL (and maybe the NFLPA jointly if it exists again)...their profession is the source of preexisting conditions and it's not fair that because their job is the source of that that they should have to pay higher rates or not find coverage at all. Anyone who has experience with insurance and preexisting conditions will tell you...it's onerous.
IMO this issue isn't one of how much money they made, it's an issue of fairness.

The anti-player comments seem to be getting sillier and sillier.

I wonder if this “stuffing the blogs” tactic will blow up in the owner’s faces.

My local blogs still contain mostly sensible comments with 90% favorable to the players.

-------------------------

Then why don't you go post and read in your local blogs instead of mocking people who think differently than you?

Noone cares what your local blogs say. We don't know what blogs they are, nor do we care to go verify or dispute your claims.

It is a comment just meant to incite.

Has anyone insulted Jerry Richardson yet, based on that one article about him being rude to a pampered athlete that had no business being in the discussions? I feel this is obligatory now, to lump him in with idiots like Snyder and JJ, since you know, there was that ONE time he did something negative that was reported on. Don't mind him being the only former player who owns a team now, with league wide respect. The same guy that the owners (The legendary Kraft and Rooney included -gasp- ) chose to be their voice. Anyways, he's an idiot and this is mainly his fault, Panthers fault too, because they have never been good. Jesus Christ, these fans that comment are worse than Colin Cowherd.

Please, as somebody else posted, these players can't even negotiate their own individual contracts, why would anybody think this group could negotiate something as complex as a CBA?

And besides, Vrabel nor any of the others are serous about this. The plan all along has been to go the litigation route, claim ant-trust violations, force a devastating deal on the owners and collect triple damages to boot.

The NFLPA doesn't give a rat's behind about "the game". These are some of the greediest people alive, and if they get their way, they will destroy the NFL.

@Realfan. This Blog is clearly slanting its stories to one side & its obvious why. Don't bite the hand that feeds you, so blame the players. The owners lost their Lockout Insurance case and the players will get that injunction on the 6th. The players who are smart, educated and are on top of things will stay together. The spendthrifts and uneducated players will whine and fall for anything the league puts out. Don't worry about the comments on here, because they have no sway on what the union and players are going to do. If you want to communicate with the players they will be on UStream tomorrow, and there will not be one negative comment..not one. APRIL 6TH can't get here soon enough, because the ignorance spewed on here would be sad if it wasn't so laughable.
If you agree with me..thumbs down. If you love the players...thumbs up.

Interesting. Click on a thumb that would favor the owners and the number goes up by 5-8 while the players "thumb" remains the same. Click on the players "thumb" and it goes up one BUT the owners side goes up 2-4.

Makes a guy go, "Hmmmmmmm?" and wonder about the honesty of this entire site.

I mean the owners side goes up EVERY time the players side is "thumbed"? You'd think at least once it wouldn't. But EVERY TIME?

Owners negotiating with the players would be interesting. It'd be too many moving parts for anything to get done, but it'd be more productive than anything that'll happen with DeMo and his counterparts in the picture.

Could somebody please tell these morons that the players walked out before they were locked out. There was an offer that could have been negotiated but they ran out the door to file the law suits they had been preparing for weeks, if not months.

@dolphinatic: Could it possibly be that the players are wrong? Maybe, just maybe, it is 10-1 pro owner because objective fans of the game could see that the players did not negotiate after a "fair" concession was placed on the table. Most of these fans can't stand Goodell but yet they are "siding" with him. That is called rational thought processes leading to an obvious conclusion. The union supporters simply chant "open the books" and think that holds water. There have been some good points made by the folks supporting the players but that does not change the fact that the players walked away, not the owners.

I suggest watching the interview if you haven't. These guys are so clueless it is laughable. Every university they attended should sue for defamation. I cannot believe that these guys can really think fans are dumb enough to be on their side. "Paint your face like the judge and show up outside the courtroom", reall Foxworth? We have our TEAMS,the TEAMS have no players. We don't need you guys. What a pansy country we live in. If someone doesn't get their own way they go right to court instead of discussing the situation like grown men.

@ realfan

Your blogs are full of uneducated casual football fans who can't understand that the owners laid out an offer to be negotiated on that gave in to nearly all player demands including 5 years of finances which is way more than they are entitled to. I am sorry that you are new to this blog where most people are smart enough to understand that.

The anti-player comments seem to be getting sillier and sillier.

Seems odd.

All I did was say that the best lever the players have to get the actual owners to negotiate is to get an injunction.

Either that or to get Doty to assess punitive damages against the owners for cheating on the TV deals.

Without either or both of them the owners will continue to prevaricate knowing time is on their side.

Vrabel understands this.

Then shut up and move on Dawkins. Appears the players association is falling apart.

Gravel doesn't want to negotiate with JJ, Richardson and those owners. They need to deal with Rooney, Kraft, et al.

Idiot players dealing with idiot owners will accomplish nothing. Get with the strong owners. Where is Lamar Hunt when you need him?

NFLPA* can't authorize anyone to do anything for the players because they "shammy-fied" the union as the authorized entity.

NFLPA* has to wait until they un-shammy-fy.

Owners could wait until next season and go with replacement players this year. Watch the NFLPA* members jump ship!
