There is absolutely no way any team gives up a 1st round pick for this guy in the supplemental draft. With the current state of affairs in the NFL and more importance placed on character I still don’t see any team giving up more then a 3rd pick.

Why don’t more players opt for the supplemental draft? Maybe because there’s only been a handful of players taken in the supplemental draft who amounted to anything. The supplemental draft works pretty much like the regular one, so those guys like Locker would still not be drafted as high as you’d expect. They’d still be making less money, so it’s really no benefit to them to go with the supplemental.

As a Notre Dame fan it is disapointing that Floyd would put himself in this position. His previous arrest, for under age drinking, can easily be forgiven since I would wager 95% of under age college kids drink anyways and nobody but himself was put in danger. This arrest, if he is proven guilty, is far worse and deserves punishment from the school.

That being said, I doubt he gets more than a game or two so I doubt that he will enter the supplemental draft. He has first round talent but one of the reasons for his 3rd round grade was a lack of staying healthy the last 2 years. Add in a DUI as a reason for going pro and I don’t see his stock rising. He needs to take his suspension, get his act together and then stay healthy and be productive and he will be a 1st round lock in 2012.

Great receiver but be wary. In a great public relations job by Notre Dame, they swept his previous “alcohol related” issue under the rug. He beat a guy to a bloody pulp while drunk in his home state of Minnesota. Cops found him with blood all over his hands and clothes. In fairness, the details never came out so we don’t know what happened, but that doesn’t sound good. I hope he gets his act together, but don’t assume he will just because he is a Golden Domer.
To me, there are guys like Hankerson out there with less character issues and just as high potential. I doubt he would’ve been the third WR…especially if this came out pre-draft. I wish him luck and he is a physical freak, but route running and character are some concerns. Stud WRs at high glamour schools don’t always turn out like the public thinks.

How about Terrelle Pryor or anyone with an unjustified suspension in the sham we know as college football??

More kids should just opt for the supplemental draft because if they’re guys who could’ve been 1st rounders like Andrew Luck or Jake Locker they don’t take the risks of plummeting draft stocks.

In addition, at least they can earn money without suffering penalties. College players getting money is equivalent to steroid use or cheating.

It’s only banned because a bunch of out-of-shape, greedy, and racist pigs like NCAA presidents are jealous that people with real talent can get more than just a bunch of easy courses to stay eligible and bogus curriculum degrees.

I would love for the Redskins to get this guy! I agree that 3rd round seems to low for this guy’s talents, but maybe his off-field issues played a role. Personally I would take him over Jones, as Jones has a tendency to disappear in games. Green and Floyd always seem to make their presence felt.

*note: The Redskins would still need a QB to get the ball to Floyd, but it will be a big improvement to actually have an explosive and reliable downfield target for whoever takes the snap from center.
