Attention all idiots- Carolina is not going to have the #1 pick in 2012 so stop already with the nonsense of drafting Andrew Luck. And for all you Cam Newton haters out there, Cam will be a better NFL QB than Luck will. Luck doesn’t have the passion for the NFL that you think.

Yeah, since he predicted the number one pick last year (which was pretty obvious to me at least), now everyone thinks he is some all knowing psychic on number one picks. I like Schefter just as much as the next guy but last week he says, they will definitely take a quarterback number one (again not unheard my mock draft and other people’s mocks have had them going QB long before he said that), and that he had a feeling it was going to be Gabbert (which at the time more people were thinking Newton over Gabbert to the Panthers), and now this week since everyone is thinking Gabbert, he says now he’s feeling Newton (and next week he’ll be feeling Gabbert again). Really should be taken with a grain of salt, basically has a 50-50 chance so it’s not that altruistic. Plus, I don’t know why people even mock non-quarterbacks number one anymore, 10 out of the past 13 years a quarterback has gone number one with the only exceptions being 2000 (Cleveland Browns draft Courtney Brown since that had taken Tim Couch number one the year before), 2006 (Texans drafted Mario Williams, still had faith in David Carr), 2008 (Dolphins drafted Jake Long (total Parcells move) and are paying for it with Chad Henne instead of Matt Ryan). So, yes they will go QB number one, will it be Newton or Gabbert…who knows? Arguments for both make sense, but Cam Newton was the original idea of the QB who would go first not Gabbert, so this is nothing new.

If I were a Carolina Panther fan, I’d be rooting for Patrick Peterson or Marcell Dareus- A great player to build a defense around, but will keep the offense poor enough to position you for Andrew Luck in 2012…

Mario has become a Pro-Bowler and a top DE in the NFL. The Texans have hired Wade Phillips who will definitely improve the D overall.

Where’s VY? Oh yeah, he’s unemployed since Bud Adams has already said he won’t be with the team any longer. Where’s Reggie Bush? He still hasn’t rushed for more than 600 yards, his rush total has dropped 4 straight seasons and he finished 2010 with a measly 150 yards on the ground.

The Panthers picking up Palmer? LOL. Good one, loser. Mike Brown isn’t even entertaining offers.

McNabb? I guess you missed the part where McNabb was replaced by Rex Grossman!

I guess some of you people think that a perennial 8-8 team is good. Some teams (Texans) will continue to be mediocre at 8-8 or on a good year 9-7 and never make the playoffs. The owner, coaches and draft picks (past and future) will insure that.

Cam is by far the best athlete QB in the draft. Better to go wrong with than Blaine Gabbert. Cam, I think, is much better than Vince Young and he has a Michael Vick like arm. If you are going to roll some dice then go with this guy. To Jimmy Clausen…you may be good one day but you sat there with this smug I’m so good look and you know what, the NFL is hard. Basically it isn’t the Panther front office that isn’t sold on him, it’s the Panther players and that filtered upward.

For one you can’t trade players for picks without no CBA. Secondly if they are going to trade down, how about stay in the top 5? Would be a smart instead of trading for a lower 1st round.

Rumors has it Ponder has raise his draft to potentially be a late 1st rounder. If he does make it in the 2nd round, he will be taken early. So he won’t be there in the 3rd round, but anything can happend come draft day though.

I would be very very surprised if they would draft a guy @ #1 with all the character concerns Newton has. VERY surprised. They’ve never done that under Hurney. You’re talking about a team that all on their own benched their most productive offensive player to that date for 2 games to start 08. If they do that, I would say Rivera has a lot of pull that Fox didn’t or different standards than Fox did.

What a stupid comparison, especially in 2 different sports. Mallet stock is constantly falling week by week. He isn’t worth the #1 overall pick. But if they could somehow regain a 2nd rounder, then it would be good to draft him there.

Cam N is at best a 2-3yr project, you don’t draft project in the top 5. You draft in the top 10 for day 1 starters/upgrade a need on your team. When was the last time a player selected in the top 5 sat and learn?

Mike Brown isn’t going to trade Palmer, so he’s out the picture. Palmer is probably ready to file for retirement. Would McNabb go to a rebuilding team or a team that can “win now”? Clearly a team who can “win now” such as the Vikings, Cardinals etc etc.

If Newton or Gabbert are selecting #1 overall, they will play rightaway. If not what a waisted pick who needs to sit and learn, when they could have drafted a player who can start day 1. I take my chances in 2012 with Luck, Barkley, and Jones potentially declaring for the draft who will be way better than Newton and Gabbert.

Yeah that’s it – the Texans build a pretty good team by not drafting Bush or VY. They are a pretty good 8-8 team and maybe they will actual go 9-7 one of these years. How many playoff games has Mario gotten them. Bush helped his team to the SB and Vince has a winning record and been all pro (more than once).

Hmmm. First you say the “Mario hasn’t gotten them any playoff wins”……and then out of the other side of your mouth you say Bush HELPED his team to a SB. So it’s up to Williams to do it all himself but Bush only has to be a team player. Nice. Not Williams’ fault his organization couldn’t put anybody around him on defense. Meanwhile, Bush has one of the best QB’s in the league and impressive firepower all around him AND a solid Defense. As for Vince, nobody is knocking on that “all pro’s” door these days. Dude doesn’t have a team and doesn’t look like he’ll be a starter anywhere next year either.

I don’t agree with ur Cam Newton observation but I do like Mallett, so I share ur feel. I really feel he was did extremely wrong by the media and simply didn’t didn’t handle it well.

I wish him all the Best. He, Cam, Jake, and Ponder, I feel should be vying for that top spot. Don’t know where Blaine came from. I guess getting the inside agent does work wonders for u rising up the Draft board.

If Rivera goes with Newton, this will be the end of his NFL head coaching career.

The Panthers need to stock up on offensive and defensive linemen first. Then build out from there. This draft doesn’t have a franchise QB like Ryan, Stafford (when healthy) or Bradford.

Panthers need to be smart here and don’t fall for the popular pick. Everyone hated the Texans for drafting Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush and Vince Young. That pick ended up being the turning point when the Texans started building a decent team.
