Ravens safety Tom Zbikowski improved to 3-0 as a professional boxer with a unanimous decision victory on Saturday night in Atlantic City.
Although Zbikowski’s opponent, Caleb Grummet, has never won a pro fight and wasn’t expected to give him much of a challenge, it was the most competitive fight of Zbikowski’s brief career: Zbikowski’s two previous fights had been first-round technical knockouts, but this time around Grummet took him the distance.
Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun was on the scene and wrote that Zbikowski got hit hard and didn’t have an easy time of it, but did deserve to win the decision.
Prior to tonight’s fight, Zbikowski was expected to return to the ring on April 23. We’ll see whether Grummet giving him a tougher time than expected makes him rethink his boxing career.
