Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones will hold an individual Pro Day workout on April 14, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT.
Jones had to push back his workout due to foot surgery.
The Pro Day will be held at Los Medanos Junior College in California. 26 teams will be represented, which shows the demand for Jones. He’s a small-school running back working out at a JUCO.
A possible second- to third-round pick, Jones is “rising up draft boards,” according to the source. Jones’ training coach recently informed Yahoo! Sports that the explosive tailback is running ten-yard splits in the 1.4-second range, which would easily be the best ten-yard time in the draft. Ohio State cornerback Chimdi Chekwa paced the field at the Combine with a 1.52 ten-yard split.
Jones’ 7.90 career yards-per-carry average is also by far tops among running backs likely to be drafted in April. He’s drawn comparisons to Brian Westbrook and Jamaal Charles for his home-run speed and versatility.
The main concern for Jones is his durability.
