More draft invitees come to light

Earlier today, Jason La Canfora reported that 20 players have been invited to the draft.  Four names are known so far:  Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller, Alabama receiver Julio Jones, Iowa defensive end Adrian Clayborn, and Alabama running back Mark Ingram.

The list can now officially be doubled.

We’re told that Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, Georgia receiver A.J. Green, Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt, and Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith have received invitations.

Jones and Clayborn have accepted.  It’s unknown what the other six will do.

UPDATE:  La Canfora reports that Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers, Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley, Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara, and Alabama defensive tackle Marcel Dareus have been invited to the draft.  That’s 12 in all.

Wait a minute. What does this have to do with Tom Brady?

USC OT Tyron Smith confirmed on NFL Network following his Pro Day that he’ll attend the draft.

Von Miller is a co-plaintiff in the Brady, Manning, Brees, et al suit to end the lockout. He’s not in the league yet and has no dog in the fight until he’s drafted and can’t sign a contract with the team that drafted him.

But then again, he’s an Aggie. Hahahahaha!

Good for them. Once in a lifetime opportunity.

I bet Cam Newton and Patrick Peterson did get invites!

Yeah Cam Newton, Patrick Peterson, Tyron Smith, Robert Quinn definitely got invites. Possibly another offensive tackle, probably Nate Solder, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jake Locker got invited too.
