It sounds like the coaches simply needed more information. It also sounds like the owners should have found something else for the coaches to do when the issue was discussed, like they did when the overtime rules for the postseason were changed in 2010.

The premise of the paragraph is laughable. The owners know the circumstances of the rules changes and will be the ones voting on it. The vote was tabled because the votes weren’t there to pass it. There is no such thing as defenseless player in the NFL.

One of these years, Art Rooney will realize that pushing for Roger Goodell to be Commissioner of the NFL was the worst decision of his career. The current culture in the NFL is anti-Steeler and will eventually be anti-football.

NFL football is dead.

If they want to curtail injuries, they shouldn’t allow any players over 250 pounds. Their idea of preventing injuries in football is a pipe dream. It’s been a part of the game since the game was invented. If they got rid of all the pads and helmets, and played only on soft grass fields, there’d still be injuries. Ask a rugby player.

The league should concentrate on developing better helmets, lighter knee braces, and field surfaces that lessen impact. They should not work on keeping players from hitting each other. Football is supposed to be a sport where the tougher, faster, smarter team wins. Everyone that’s ever played tackle football knows this.

Wow, what? Have you ever watched a football game? DeSean Jackson is one of the most exciting players to watch in the NFL.

the problem I have with the safety argument is where will it end? Like all liberal issues, they destroy everything they touch.
first its the head, as a result they will remove the helmet….then it will be the knees, so they will just have touch football, m-flo and co. will be out of buisness cause the NFL will be to…..

Hypocrite owners want pinball track meets. Caring about injuries is bull. If they want to curb injuries, make owners install grass. They wont, because it slows the game down thereby creating less points thereby making inner city youth less likely to buy jerseys of players who’d have no business playing in the league if these offense-friendly rules weren’t in place (DeSean Jackson)
