Charges dismissed against Elvis Dumervil

Last season, while Broncos linebacker Elvis Dumervil was out for the year due to a pectoral injury, he was cited for assault and disturbing the peace after getting into an argument with a parking lot attendant at Invesco Field.

Dumervil had forgotten his player credential, and the attendant wouldn’t allow Dumervil to enter the lot.

Dumervil called a team official and quickly received clearance to enter the lot, but the attendant filed a complaint.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, all charges have been dropped.

“”He never should have been charged in the first place,” said Harvey Steinberg, who has represented virtually every member of the organization who ever has gotten into trouble, including Dumervil.  “And the press coverage should be the same now that his case has been dismissed as when he was charged.”

Trial had been set for April 5.

Couldn’t agree more. The rent-a-cop had himself/herself a little case of false authority and entitlement. Actually and sadly this person wasn’t even a security guard… just striving to become one.

Elvis probably called the guy an assh**e or something else minor and the attendant saw a chance for some easy $ if he sued down the road.

Sounds like Harvey has himself a pretty lucrative practice.

I could care less about Elvis Dumervil, but Steinberg is right: He shouldn’t have been charged in the first place. Ridiculous waste of time and money. Case should have been dropped long before this, and the attendant should have been fired … but instead he probably got a nice, big check

Parking Attendant: Hey, arent you Elvis Dumervil, the guy who just signed a 65 million dollar deal?

    ED: Yup

Attendant: I’m gonna need to see some credentials.

Accusations + Dropped Charges > Accusations + No Charges. By that calculation, Dumerville should be suspended for all of next year…

I just want to say that I am disappointed in the PFT commentors here. I enjoy reading the comments section (who could forget the post on Ed Reed’s brother), but the attempts on this article are weak. Bring the comedy back please.

I’ve twice tried to post a transcript of the scene from Seinfeld where George argues with the parking lot attendant who is running a prostitution ring out of the Jiffy Park, but I can’t get it through. I’m trying, man!
