The guy explained to me that no NFL team is allowed to directly email each other. Every thing meant to go to a different team must go through the central email server and checked for issues (collusion, inside info, etc.) Someone is checking all of these emails that go between teams.

You know what I think? I think that you are 25% right about someone (probably an admin. asst.) at the Lions screwing up and sending the email to the wrong distribution group.

One of the biggest problems with the Lions is that the Ford family has the front office packed with family and friends. I have no doubt there’s some incompetent admin behind this who has no qualifications for the job other than being a friend of the Fords.

Rumors of this sort of stuff went back to even Millen’s earliest days with the team… that he wanted to get rid of a lot of incompetent and useless people in the front office and in the football operations (scouts, etc) and the Ford family wouldn’t let him.

I’ve been surprisingly happy with Lewand, Mayhew, and Schwartz, but the dysfunction with this team has been around since the Ford family bought the team.

Some idiot pulled a michael scott and sent it to the wrong distribution group and then some idiot at the central NFL office let this email go through that shouldn’t have.

So my point is that it took more than one person and not just from the lions to cause this screw up.
