19 of 20 draft invites are now known

Danny Watkins AP

We’ve been keeping track of the list of players invited to the 2011 NFL draft.  The league reportedly invited 20.  At last count, 18 names had surfaced.

And now we know number 19.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Baylor guard Danny Watkins has been invited — and has accepted.  He’ll bring firefighter friends with him to New York.

The other 18 are: Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, Cal defensive end Cameron Jordan, Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller, Alabama receiver Julio Jones, Iowa defensive end Adrian Clayborn, Alabama running back Mark Ingram, Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, Georgia receiver A.J. Green, Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt, Missouri defensive end Aldon Smith, Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley, Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara, Alabama defensive tackle Marcel Dareus, USC tackle Tyron Smith, Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers, UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers, Florida center Mike Pouncey and Illinois defensive tackle Corey Liuget.

Whoever guesses the 20th gets a free subscription to PFT.

Ryan Mallet, the NFL loves putting a camera on a guy and watching him fall down the board.

  8. rovibe says: Apr 4, 2011 8:53 PM

Would be a lot more fun to watch if they just invited all the controversial and/or ‘red flag’ prospects, so we could watch them squirm before getting selected:

    Newton
    Mallett
    Locker
    Bowers
    etc…

Plus the unnamed player who failed the drug test at the Combine..

    ——————————

Locker stated after his Pro day that he had been invited to attend the draft and turned them down. He said that all of his family would not have been able to attend and it was more important to him to be with them.

I reported this in the first thread like this and it was deleted so god only knows what pfft is trying to do here.

Yep, it’s intelligent and well thought out comments like this that make folks REALLY believe that racism is over…

And one wonders why everything the media has to write about Cam is so quickly believe and regurgitated.

Locker has already announced that he’s staying home to be with his family and friends for the draft. Whether that affects the NFL’s decision to invite him or not I have no idea.

Christian Ponder said on http://www.warchant.com that he was invited.

As for draft day, Ponder had planned to watch the vent in Dallas, but those plans may have just changed.

“The initial plan was to head back to Dallas to be there for draft day but today I was just extended an invitation to head up to NYC,” he said. “My family and I will talk about what we are going to do but it will be hard to turn down actually going to the draft.”
