Louisville running back Bilal Powell launched himself onto the 2011 draft radar in a breakout senior season, finishing second in the Big East in rushing and averaging a spectacular 6.14 yards per carry.

Powell wasn’t on many NFL scouts’ radars through three college seasons, but teams took notice of his monster 2010 campaign.

A league source tells PFT’s Mike Florio that Powell has scheduled private workouts and/or official team-facility visits with seven teams. They are the Cowboys, Falcons, Jets, Patriots, Bengals, Dolphins, and Chiefs.

A projected third- to fifth-round pick, Powell impressed by running a forty time in the 4.50 to 4.54 range at Louisville’s recent Pro Day. Powell is 5-foot-11 and 207 pounds, but plays much bigger. With an upright style and deceptive power, Powell is a downhill runner in the Ryan Grant mold.

His Pro Day was heavily populated by NFL running backs coaches, an indication that there’s a lot of buzz about Powell. He also has a productive history on special teams, returning kickoffs and making tackles as a gunner early in his college career.
