Seattle wide receiver Mike Williams has 500,000 reasons to watch his weight during the work stoppage.

The Seahawks included a roster bonus in Williams’ new contract worth half a million dollars due on the seventh day of the league year, according to Adam Caplan of FoxSports.com. Usually, that day would be in March. It may could be anywhere from May-to-September this year.

So if Williams showed up to work out of shape, the Seahawks could dump him relatively pain-free. That’s unlikely because Williams has seemingly turned his career around and they gave him a $500,000 signing bonus in January.

The team also gave Williams incentive to stay in shape by including a weight clause worth $150,000 in the deal. He also has a $500,000 bonus due on the first day of training camp and per-game roster bonuses totaling $250,000. His 2011 pay can max out at $3.75 million.

At the time Williams signed his deal, we said it was a smart, team-friendly investment by the Seahawks. By including all these bonuses, it looks like an even safer deal for Seattle.
