as far as value, its tough because palmer is a multiple year pro-bowler and he really is still in his prime right now. but he is probably already starting to decline and it is a matter of how rapidly that happens. no way i give up a first for him, maybe a late second or early third, especially considering the bengals other option is nothing.

why complain about the stories? PFT is making it easy for the fans to get national/regional stories in one place. for example, how often am i going to look up the miami local sports section? zero, i live up north. PFT did they leg work for us. they are giving credit to the original reporter as well…

anyway, i think carson is worth a 2nd rounder. if the bengals want a 1st, they need to give up a pick. the fact is there is a shortage of quality QB’s in the league. the bengals got some leverage.

The Cardinals are in most desperate need of a competent pocket passer. Someone that Whisenhunt can work with, has work ethic and a veteran team. And they have to make Fitzgerald happy this season.

Plus, Palmer wants to go back west. Arizona is a 90 minute flight from LA, it’s good weather and no more Steelers and Ravens defense 4 times a year. Tell me that won’t rejuvenate his career like when Warner got away from New York. Remember, Warner was ages 34-38 in his pretty decent 5-year contribution to that franchise. To say Palmer is over the hill at age 30 is ridiculous.

Palmer is ideal to work with Whisenhunt.

I’d counter that offer with one of these two:

Carson for Miami’s 2nd and 3rd this year (if they have those picks, I’m too lazy to look it up).

or

Carson and Cincinnati’s 3rd rounder for Miami’s 1st round pick.

Carson and a second round pick is just too valuable to give up at this point. The Bengals need to hang on to their second rounder because that’s where they’ll probably be picking a QB.

Didn’t mean to offend you, Bengal fan. That said, the 4 names I mentioned were drafted #1, #3, #4 and #6. The ones you mentioned were drafted #9, #15, #26, and #29. Surely, the 4 Bengals were bigger busts, weren’t they? A few years ago CNNSI listed the top 20 draft busts in the last 20 years. Five Bengals, one Dolphin. Not a fan of either team but I’d take the Fins drafting prowess over the Bungals.

That would be great if Miami had a 2nd rounder. Unfortunately they don’t. Denver has it from the Marshal trade.

I like the idea of getting Palmer for our first, but then getting their 2nd rounder in return.

Moving down 20 spots and getting a potential star QB in return is a good gamble to take in my opinion. “Potential” is the key word though.

Klingler, Akili, Warrick, and Carter were all consesus top 10 picks when they came out, Klingler played behind one of the worst Olines in NFL history, Warrick was solid but never had a QB, and Carter blew his knee out on the fourth carry of his career. An unnamed coach told the Cincinnati Enquirer last year that out of all of Palmers INT’s last year only 2 were completely Palmers fault. Ochocinco and TO both improvised more routes than they ran correctly last year, and the Bengals haven’t had a good o-line since 2005. Palmer needs to go to a team with a good oline to be at his best. QB’s are playing
Longer than ever so 31 not that old. Any team will have a tough time time getting Palmer, and I don’t see any scenario where the Bengals trade him for less than a first rounder. Lots of teams need a QB, I’m sure someone will give Cincinnati what they want.

Mike Brown may be the only one in the NFL who thinks he’s worth a RD1 pick at this point.
