Due to the CBA issue players cannot be traded. Thus Palmer will only be available to trade once the CBA is resolved. More than likely that isn’t going to happen until AFTER the draft. Thus Palmer cannot be traded for a 2011 draft pick. So there is absolutely no rush to explore this option. Especially since the Bengals really don’t want to trade Palmer. They’d rather he return. The offense heated up the last few games once Ocho SelfishO was out of the lineup. Palmer had his best 2 games of the season throwing to Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell.

Mike Brown is playing this EXACTLY as it should be due to the handcuff of the CBA issue. You don’t trade Palmer in 2011 since you get nothing that benefits for 2011, unless someone wants to swap a player who can contribute right away. A rarity in the NFL. You hold firm hoping Palmer blinks first. (See Pickens, Carl ; Ochocinco, Chad) If he doesn’t then you explore the option of trading him, for a 2012 pick. Why help one of the other 31 NFL teams by trading them a possible piece to the puzzle when the compensation received wouldn’t be acquired until the next year? Just wait and get the same compensation a year later. (I’ve even read that Palmer’s value might increase next year, one year removed from a bad year and some might view his resolve against Brown as a leadership quality to be admired)

I think Carson’s got other problems than just playing for the Bengals.

Yea since 2003 when Palmer was drafted by the Bengals, the Bengals have had 3 losing seasons 2007, 2008 & 2010. There record since 03 is 60-67-1

The Dolphins on the other hand have had 5 losing seasons in that same span, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009 & 2010. With a record of 55-73 in that stretch. So I guess all the “Losing” in Miami would force Palmer to opt for another organization.

Yea the Bengals would draft him and squat on his rights until he changed his mind. Bottom line is Mike Brown will not be forced into anything, he wont trade Carson Palmer, and he wouldn’t trade Luck, or his rights so Andrew had better hope he doesnt get drafted by the Bengals because in Cincinnati, Mike always win’s (except on the football field).

It’s more about not setting the precedent that players can sit and whine till they get what they want. They let Carson leave, then what’s stopping Chad from doing the same thing? Why don’t they just open the floodgates?

How do you think they will get a first round + for Palmer, 1 he isn’t young, 2 he isnt all that good look at the #’s 3 who in there right mind would pay the guy what he wants when he will only be on a team for maybe 4 years at best and he is on the decline? The QB class in this draft sucks but even Al Davis wouldn’t do this deal.

Smart move, having him in a NFC team makes him play Peyton every other year or every 3 years. Unless they meet in a superbowl.
