Now you know exactly what I meant by “danger to society”–it was a reference to malicious intent to do harm. Quit nitpicking my posts. The incident was an accident–caused by stupidity and carelessness, true. But the bottom line is that the bullet didn’t hit anyone but him, so he didn’t belong in prison for three years, and in a state with lesser gun laws, he wouldn’t have gotten that absurd sentence. Limited cell space needs to be reserved for people who have done or could do real harm to others.

Get this straight please; Plaxico Burress had ZERO control over where that bullet went. The gun went off in his waistband and he didn’t aim it into his own leg. But for the grace of God, that bullet could have gone in any number of directions and struck -maybe KILLED – a completely innocent person.

So yeah, this moron IS a “danger to society”, if by “society” we mean the poor slob standing ten feet away minding his own damn business.

How people can claim that Burress didn’t do much wrong simply amazes those with any intelligence at all.

Not a crime in other states? I think the last place where it was legal to discharge a firearm inside a public place was Tombstone, Arizona, in the 1880′s.

I think Michael Vick ought to focus on keeping his OWN life in order, before he goes out giving advice to other loser athletes.

Vick is far from being the poster boy for a rehabilitated ex con. He still has to stay out of trouble and out of the pokey for a few more years before anyone should buy into him. Yea hes said and done the right thing for almost 2 yrs (thanks PR team) but he needs to VOLUNTARILY do more for the community and VOLUNTARILY speak to kids about dogfighting, he needs to VOLUNTARILY give his time/money to animal shelters. Thats what paying your debt to society truly is. Bottom line is Vick has a lot more to do to better his situation before he gives anyone else advice. Ill wait till Vicks probation is over and then if he can stay out of trouble and he continues to do for the community and for animal rights groups then I’ll cut him some slack but until then ill take what he says with 10 grains of salt.

Most teams carry at least 5 or 6 WRs on their active roster. Burress can still be at least the 3rd best WR on most teams. But, he will never be the #1 WR he used to be.
