Eric Crouch tries out for UFL team

EricCrouch

It’s been nearly 10 years since Eric Crouch won the Heisman Trophy. And it’s been three years since he was last under contract with a pro football team, in the died-before-it-ever-launched All-American Football League.

Now, Crouch is back. Specifically, he attended along with roughly 175 others an open tryout for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL.

“Eric is very intriguing,” G.M. Rick Mueller said in a release. “I met him on my first trip to Omaha, and we have stayed in touch ever since. He is a really good guy, and from what I saw Saturday, a talented quarterback.”

Crouch was a third-round draft pick of the Rams in 2002. After a failed attempt to move to receiver, he left the league. He signed with the Chiefs in 2005 and played safety in NFL Europe.

Now 32, if Crouch can finally kick-start his pro football career, it’ll be time to sell the rights to the folks at Disney.
