Andre Gurode: We’ll approach Dez as a group

AP

One positive for Dez Bryant: He’s basically stayed out of the news the last week, which is a sign of progress during a tumultuous offseason.

Cowboys center Andre Gurode says Bryant’s teammates will do their best to try to help Bryant stay out of the news longer.

“I think we will approach him as a group and we all want the best for Dez and we all will reach out or have reached out to try to get in contact with him and tell him that this is a situation you’re going through and we want you to get through it and get over it and if you need any help to call us and we’ll definitely sit down and talk to you,” Gurode said 105.3 The Fan, via the Dallas Morning News.

It sounds like Bryant could use an older teammate or two to help show him the way.  First he needs to be willing to take that sort of mentoring, which didn’t happen with Deion Sanders or even his personal adviser.

  1. Get through what? The fact that he can’t go out and waist more money on jewlery? Funny how Dez was spending $$$ before he had it, and now he is depressed because he can’t waste more money that he doesn’t have?

Hopefully when Dez’s friends “reach out” to him they will have a checkbook in their hand.

  2. I think Dez needs to reach out to one person and one person only, James Laurinitis (I know I butchered that spelling lol)

  3. Wow their are a lot of sad little people on this site. Yes, Dez made some very stupid immature mistakes. Now that his teammates say they are going to try and help give him the guidance he should have received from his parents you all want to come and spew your vile. Must be nice living in your little ivory towers.

  4. Another great pick by the dumbest GM in football. The rest of the league knew this guy was trouble.

  5. No mo courvoisier ? No mo bling bling ? Bo mo rims fo my whip ? No mo makin it rain at da strip club ? Daaaaaaaang !!

  6. Well his daddy was a pimp and his mother was the corner special, actually I think Dez all things considered is doing quite well.

He has a big mouth and gets in a little trouble, but I mean that’s an ego thing I don’t see this kid really doing anything all that bad. He needs to mature a bit and grow up.

In other news some kids buy there folks a Home when they get signed, some a nice new car, the rumor is Dez went to Reno and bought a brothel for his folks!

Well at least we know where he goes for offseason conditioning! There you go Dez you are making former players like LT proud…….just remember to check ID baby.

I love Jerry Jones, Al Davis, and Dan Snyder they always pick all the crappy players in the first round leaving all the talented players for other teams.

  7. @ irishgary,

Yeah obviously Dez was a completely wasted pick! I guess the fact that he put up very solid rookie numbers means nothing because he is bad with his money. LOL

  8. “You mean the same teamates who stuck him with a ridiculous dinner bill……Yeah, makes sense….”

After seeing what Dez spends on jewelry and cars, that dinner bill was comparable to us common citizens going to Burger King.

  9. Seriously laughing at this post and the comments. This may not be the popular comment, but what has dude done the warrant this type of article? I mean, as I was reading this I was wondering if Dez has been arrested recently or doing anything dangerous. Nope, no drugs, drinking, just doing him and spending his money. I’m all for the Cowboys trying to talk to Dez, I mean he is young and immature. But the comments and this article? C’mon man.

Looking forward to the end of this lockout more and more. Each day I read articles like this…

Exactly! But this seems to be the state of things. Most sports sites seem to cater to bitter little men who call themselves ‘fans.’ Nothing seem to make them happy–except seeing athletes and other people struggle.

  11. Bryant needs to do what every other “gangsta” wannabe from the hood needs to do when he hits the NFL – leave the homeboys behind. All they want is what is in his pockets. He thinks they are his friends but they aren’t. They only want what he has now. Better that he dump them fast.

  12. Stop talking and just do it. This is something that should be keep inside. Learn to progress.

  13. I bet all of you cowboy fans on here that are defending Dez are the same ones that bash Desean whenever the media twists his words around and try to ruin his image. I can admit that Dez is a tremendous athlete and has the ability to be a great player. I’d still take Maclin and Desean over any of Dallas’ WRs and you cowboy fans sound like a bunch of hypocrites.

Dez Bryant looked really bad against the skins, a team with the 31st ranked defense. Just saying.

In WK 1? Are you referring to WK 1? You have to be referring to WK 1. No one looked good wk 1 from either team. Dez was a number 4 in wk 1… Not sure what point you’re attempting to make.

  15. Dez is a talented guy and you hate to see him implode by offseason issues. However, for his and society’s sake, I hope he matures and learns some financial responsibility so he’s not robbing people in the future to pay for a new pair diamond earings.

  16. He should get sound advice from guys (or kids) like chapnastier, boysroll, dccowboy, and all of the other idiot cowgirl fans that write idiotic comments on this site.

    HAIL!!!!
