Earlier today, I told someone that the “days without an arrest” meter had made it back to eight, a record for the 2011 lockout.

And the record will remain at eight.

Both TMZ.com and Jay Glazer and Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com report that Titans receiver Kenny Britt has been arrested in New Jersey on multiple charges after a car chase with police. Britt eventually stopped, got out of the car with a passenger, and they tried to walk away. Britt later admitted that car was his (the Tennessee plates gave it away), but he tried to say he wasn’t driving.

During questioning, the passenger, Jerel Lord, tried to run away. (As usual, it didn’t work.)

Charges against Britt including eluding an officer (a felony), lying to an officer hindering apprehension (a misdemeanor), and obstructing governmental function (another misdemeanor). Lord was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental function.

Earlier this year, Britt was charged with theft-by-deception, a misdemeanor.

Because of the lockout, the Titans cannot call Britt or otherwise communicate with him.

A first-round pick in 2009, Britt showed flashes of brilliance on the field in 2010, including a 225-yard, three-touchdown effort in a 37-19 win over the Eagles. A hamstring injury caused him to miss four games, and he generated more than 100 yards only once in four games after returning.
