Bart Scott explains how Rex Ryan is like Barack Obama

Ermenegildo Zegna Hosts 500 Hands Event With Jason Taylor And Bart Scott Getty Images

It’s been too long since Jets linebacker Bart Scott said anything crazy.    Thankfully, someone asked him a question this week about what makes Rex Ryan so unique.

“It’s how he talks and says what he’s thinking and how he lets us be loose and talk,” Scott said via Kristian Dyer of New York Metro.  “People don’t think the president is supposed to be black either. They think a president is supposed to look a certain way. It’s the same thing with Rex. He doesn’t look and act the way other coaches act. And we love him for it.”

(Well, Rex does remind us a lot of one former coach.  But it’s a fair point.)

When Scott wasn’t getting political, he was poking at his AFC rivals.

On the Ravens: “The Ravens don’t operate like the Ravens anymore. [John] Harbaugh changed everything. The Ravens aren’t that loose anymore.”

On Wes Welker’s now famous presser focused on Ryan’s foot fetish:   “That’s when you know they’re buying into us, when they start sounding like we talk,” Scott said. “Wes Welker start trying to be us, sounding like we do. That’s how you know they want to be us.”

I agree with Bart. Ryan is an exceptional con man…just like Obama.

    Lol @ Bart Scott.

Wes Welker does not want to be like you. Wes Welker’s trash talk was on another level than anything the Jets have ever done and I’m willing to bet will do. Jets trash talk is mindless….at least Welker’s took some brains.

Bart Scott – dumbest player in the league. Win something Bart, then talk about what a great system you are in.
    Moron.

It makes me scared for America that Bart Scott is allowed to vote.

  6. benchokeshischikin says: Apr 15, 2011 3:28 PM

    This just in Bart:

Barack Obama is one of the weakest presidents and poor leaders of the modern era. So, if you like your leaders: brainless, gutless, unable to make tough decisions, classless, inexperienced and screws up everything he touches well; Barack is just your guy. Now, comparing Barack the teleprompter reading fool to Rex is well…I guess one midget is taller than the other but not by much.

  7. pftard says: Apr 15, 2011 3:28 PM

How is Bart piking at the Ravens? Harbaugh did change everything. The Ravens got too relaxed under Billick and turned soft. Harbaugh got them working hard again and they’ve been to the playoffs three years in a row.

Maybe being ‘loose’ isnt the way to win championships…,

  8. prior0knowledge says: Apr 15, 2011 3:29 PM

What a refreshing and pleasant observation… Comparing a white person with a black person because of a shared trait with not a hint of racism.

Maybe there is hope for this world after all….

  10. jakek2 says: Apr 15, 2011 3:32 PM

Both took over from crummy predecessors

Both began rebuilding and returning their organizations to respectability

Both of their constituents did not see immediate dividends and therefore don’t get the credit they each deserve

Both have their respective organizations on track for bigger and better things if given enough of a chance.

There’s more similarities to them than Bart actually points out.

  11. deeowens11 says: Apr 15, 2011 3:32 PM

  12. granadosm says: Apr 15, 2011 3:35 PM

Yes there is one major similiarity, they both like to spend a ton of money and don’t see results

Hey PFT’ers! What’s the over/under on the amount of hours Fox News is on in this dude’s house?

Ben, if a black man to considers running for president in this country, actually doing it, then winning, I would probably not classify them as weak or gutless or lacking in ability to make tough choices.

  19. batfreight says: Apr 15, 2011 3:47 PM

Bart Scott never misses an opportunity to solidify his standing as a complete imbecile.

  20. rushmatic says: Apr 15, 2011 3:51 PM

What’s worse? Bart Scott’s stupidity or the dumbasses in this country who are incapable of critical thought — they only know what their religion or political party tells them to know.

    Puke.

  21. firethorn1001 says: Apr 15, 2011 3:59 PM

‘It’s the same thing with Rex. He doesn’t look and act the way other coaches act’

Doesn’t look or act the way other coaches act? White, fat and has an ego.

Ya.. no shortage of coaches that fit that mold.

  22. italyprodigy says: Apr 15, 2011 3:59 PM

Both promise things they cant deliver, Spend large amounts of money and nothing to show for it. sounds right. They are both egotistical morons. Just one is extremely big and tries to act like he knows what he is doing, and the other one knows he has no clue, so he goes out for a game of b-ball to remind himself of the good old days while wondering “what the hell am i doing here, eh, ill just go hang out with my ugly wife who spends millions of dollars of taxpayers money in a weeks span.”

  23. thevikes85 says: Apr 15, 2011 4:01 PM

Rex Ryan took the wrong linebacker with him,Ray-Ray may run his mouth too but he can back it up,Bart Scott?not so much,i’m still trying to figure out where he was in the game he couldn’t wait for,cos he sure as hell wasn’t making any tackles.God we don’t even have a season to look forward to and already the Jets are annoying me.

    Obama stinks at his job

Rex is good at his job

There’s nothing similar between the two except Ryan’s waistline and Obama’s head !

  27. jetfan4life says: Apr 15, 2011 4:05 PM

@Robzar, as a Jet fan a hope there is no similarities between Obama and Rex as we will continue to fail if that is true.
I must point out how dumb you are for spelling moroooooon, marooooon.

I did not know that Bart was a color…

  28. mattsffrd says: Apr 15, 2011 4:06 PM

well they’re both pompous blowhards, so they have that in common

  29. obamaczarofussa says: Apr 15, 2011 4:07 PM

The only thing Bart Scott knows about Obama is his skin is brown.
If Obama had hooved feet, horns and a tail 95 % of blacks would’ve voted for him anyway, so the free ride, welfare lifestyle can continue, complete with the embracement of illiterate speech and irresponsible behavior as a moniker of their “culture” and in hopes they may never have to held to the same competence standards as whites.
The truth is NEVER anything but the truth.

  30. geemoney713 says: Apr 15, 2011 4:07 PM

People don’t think the president is supposed to be black? Who thinks that?

Obama is only 50/50 black, so his ‘point’ really misses. Obama looks exactly what he is expected to look like; a politician.

  31. wferg1121 says: Apr 15, 2011 4:08 PM

I agree with Bart on his comparison of Rex and Obama.. Rex is like the president says he is going to do one thing, but does something completely different.

  32. txchief says: Apr 15, 2011 4:08 PM

Mr. Scott, the noted and learned urban sophisticate, is obviously making a salient observation here. However, his incisive logic and wit flies over the heads of many, and it may be difficult for some to undertand his point.

  33. scoob766 says: Apr 15, 2011 4:09 PM

America before Obama was like the 49ers before bill Walsh, it takes time to turn around a mess. Then after awhile new coaches (or new presidents, republicans?) comes And ruins it all over. It’s a cycle, vote dem 2012.

  34. coachstram says: Apr 15, 2011 4:10 PM

    @rushmatic…..

Well said, sir……if people held an ounce of critical thought, Bart Scott would be comparing Ryan to someone other than Obama.

    But doubt he would.

    3) The party of “NO””s great hope is the one and only Sarah Palin? Or that doof from Wisconsin that is more interested in closing Planned Parenthood than closing the loophole that allows General Electric to rake 8B in profit without paying a dime of taxes?

I have noticed a trend on PFT, the boards get better as they day goes on. I hope although doubt it that your kids are not as dumb as you. Oil prices go up and down, 2008 (Bush in office) gas nationally was $4.18 a gallon. Right now it’s $3.50. During Bush it went up and down, during every president it does. Only problem is you have a fish memory.

Also the national debt was spiraling out of control far before Obama. Read any credible article, Obamas spending saved us from Depression.

Regarding jobs, unemployment went up 2% in Obamas first two months and was increasing far before. Not that we should blame Bush, but how do you blame Obama? Nothing gets implemented in 2 months.

Now start reading a little more or stop assuming we live in a fairytale where everything is peachy. Just because under Clinton we had huge success doesn’t mean it will last.

It’s not a matter of what who you know did, it’s a matter of what everybody did. Bush won the electoral (which is so stupid, by the way) and popular votes, and 31 states. He then proceeded to have one of the worst terms in U.S. Presidential history. Back to now, Obama is slowly undoing some of the damage, and those are facts. (I’d love to prove it, but PFT deletes any comments with links in them.) When the major charge against BO is led by inbred Republicans who think the GOP could do better, (that means you, Mr. Tea Party and Mrs. Birther) I don’t see the problem with “beating them over the head” with it, considering Obama’s success is being judged by how many Bush-Era wrongs he can right.

Like I said before, Obama stinks, but he’s leagues better than any figurehead the GOP has supported in decades, and I’m not talking about Reagan, he was an idiot too. Think earlier.

And for the record, I do not subscribe to a particular party. Party politics is useless to me.

So what you’re saying is that since Obama won an election that he is not weak, gutless, and unable to make tough decisions? Do you feel that way about Bush? Somehow I doubt that.

I find it very funny how liberals claim that conservatives ONLY get their info from Fox News, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.

May I ask where libs get their info? I’ll assume MSNBC, Chris Matthews, Brian Williams, and Rachel Maddow? So what’s the difference?

Hey, libs. Dems were in control for FOUR years (2006-2010). The downward spiral started when Dems won the 2006 elections. Yes, Bush spent WAAAYYYY too much money, but Obama took it to a whole new level of irresponsibility.

You could make your points better if you didn’t resort to name calling. Once you do that, you lose all credibility. As a conservative, I agree that Palin and Romney have no shot. Trump is a joke. Obama COULD win by default, but he keeps shooting himself in the foot, which could lead to his defeat (no pun intended).
