Spielman: Vikings would have to look if receiver slipped to No. 12

Four positions come to mind for Vikings VP Rick Spielman when considering possibilities for the team’s No. 12 overall pick: quarterback, offensive line, defensive line and safety.

With that said, Spielman said he wouldn’t ignore value if it presented itself at wide receiver should A.J. Green or Julio Jones fall to Minnesota.

“Potentially if one of those receivers slides down to 12 and Sidney Rice doesn’t return, there are things you can do to fill that need as well,” Spielman told Florio on PFT Live Friday.

It’s misinformation season, so perhaps Spielman was trying to inspire someone interested in Jones to trade up ahead of the Rams at No. 14. Jones spent Thursday in St. Louis before visiting the 49ers Friday, according to CSNBayArea.com.

We think it’s more likely the Vikings take care of their quarterback need by drafting Jake Locker -- unless the Redskins beat them to it.
