@ 8man

The Pats and Parcells did not play in SB 35. That was SB 36. And if not for the Desmond Howard, ensuing KO return TD after Curtis Martin's GREAT TD run in which he busted through Gilbert Brown, I believe the Pats would have won. They had ALL of the momentum at that point and were KILING the Pack defensively. That return TD by Howard flipped the momentum sending GB on to the title, which is why Howard was MVP.

The 2 long passing TDs that Favre had in that game were a result of blown coverage by Willie Clay, which was explained by not only Parcells but by other defensive teammates after that game. Parcells may have been coaching his last game after the JETS WERE TAMPERING with him, but he coached a pretty damn good game.

He along with Bledsoe and Kraft saved the Patriots. They did. I wish Parcells and Bledsoe could go into the Pats HOF together since they bothe came to NE in 1993, but they only vote in one guy per year.

As the old song goes "money can't buy me love."

Do you think Bill Gates or Warren Buffet are happier than Donald Trump who is in turn happier than Brett Farve and on down the line to you and me? How much money do you think talking heads like Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson or Bill Cohwer have? - they're more than set for life but still want to be on TV. It's nice to have some money so you don't have to do anything (like go to work at a job you hate) but it's not enough. Maybe Brett will be happy being a gentleman farmer, but I think he'll crave something more - maybe a TV gig? Maybe investing in something like MASCAR (like Joe Gibbs)? Maybe buy an AFL team? He'll want to do something but money does give him the luxury or being choosey.

At the very least he'll be a talking head on one of the networks. However given his background and knowledge of the game he's a great candidate to move up the ranks and become a Head Coach at the NFL level.

Bledsoe hardly sucked after he left NE 4300 yards for Buffalo in 2002 & a total of over 13K 2002-2005 (starting all 64 games) before being replaced by Romo half way through 2006. Brady had better stats but Bledsoe's were nothing to be ashamed of and better than most QBs in the league.

Agreed. The current players ought to find hobbies since they won't be working this year. Something I'll be fine with.

Parcells in the Patriots Hall of Fame? Really? They would have won SB35 if he didn't have his head up the Jets management's collective asses.

If I ran into him and Ben Dreith having lunch I'd have a difficult time deciding who I was going to punch in the groin first.

Therefore, that 7 or 8 years in that he speaks of happens to coincide with when his career went into a nose dive after Parcells left New England, and Tom Brady came to town and showed him how to play QB.

Drew is one of my favorites.

Favre is not. He'll have a tough time after football.

He put up great stats. But, notice how everyone refers to him as the "Ol' Gunslinger" or a "great Gunslinger". I've also heard him called a "Riverboat Gambler". That's because he wasn't a great "quarterback". He took waaaaay too many risks. He made terrible decisions most of the time living off his arm strength, which is a great quality to have obviously, but he cost his teams too many times in big games than he helped. He'll make the HOF, of course, because he put up astronomical stats, which is why Marino and Fouts are in the HOF too, but when I think of great QBs, I think of Unitas, Montana, Manning, and Brady. Not Favre.

Anyway. Bledsoe should get into the Pats HOF easily although all three are deserving.

Oh, so he’s a guy who played one good game that you happened to be at…

Response:

It's amazing how many ignorant people post on this site. If you truly believe that Drew Bledsoe only played one good game, then you clearly know nothing about the NFL.

Drew Bledsoe made 4 Pro Bowls and passed for over 44,000 yards during his 14 year NFL career.

I'm guessing he had at least a few good games....

very good words Drew, unfortunately much like your advice/wisdom for Ryan Leaf it will probably once again fall on deaf ears.

Brett Favre will not be coaching - at least not at a major college or professional level. He comes across as another great player who would be totally lost trying to teach and coach the game he was once great at.

Hey vikingmachine-

You must be new to this whole NFL thing.

Drew is the guy who torched your vikes back in ’94 en route to one of the most prolific passing performances in league history.

Check out the record books and you’ll find him under mOst passes and completions in a game. It was a huge comeback, something like 28-0 at the half, with a td pass to Kevin turner in ot to win it.

I remember it fondly because I was a 9 yr old watching live at foxboro stadium, and my favorite part was the 2 vikes fans who left at halftime bc they “knew” the game was over.

Drew was an all-time great who has been forgotten bc of Tom terrific but drew was an absolute class act who should be a first ballot pats hof’er

---------------------------------------------

Oh, so he's a guy who played one good game that you happened to be at...

Thanks for clarifying that...
