Baylor nose tackle Phil Taylor’s draft stock is all over the place, depending on who you talk to.
Some believe he’s more of a mid-round pick that has been artificially pushed up to possible first round status because of the lack of possible 3-4 nose tackles available. Some believe he’s a true talent with top-15 upside and questions about his effort are overblown.
Taylor also has a medical issue that could cause teams to be wary.
Rob Rang of CBSSports.com reports that teams are red-flagging Taylor after a Combine physical revealed bones growing together in his feet. Apparently, this is something that can’t be corrected surgically. It’s just about pain tolerance.
“This isn’t just our team, by the way,” Rang’s source said. “Every team gets the MRIs. Every other team is seeing this too.”
It’s tough to tell just how serious this concern is. But it makes Taylor’s draft stock all the more unpredictable.

They had to put red flags on Phil’s feet. Warning other pedestrians of a WIDE LOAD oncoming.
So you’re saying the Jets definitely wont be drafting him?
Rex ryan would be turned off
Big Phil’s foot bones are bonding in sympathy. They all share the same heavy burden to carry through life.
Get him some bigger shoes….duh?
I see what the both of you were trying to do and it would have been funny if we could go 4 months in the past, but the Jets have never been afraid of picking up people with injury red flags. DeWayne Robertson, Jonathan Vilma, ect. I suspect the Jets will go after Taylor, or Houston.
Happy feet can play, thats what counts
lol, Rob Rang spreading gm gossip. You know there is another unsubstantiated report on NFP refuting these claims already. Come on now, post both of the stories.
Yeah, I figured Rex Ryan would get mentioned in the comments.
Could be an issue, could be nothing. Remember Adrian Peterson had health issues too, red flags and such. The vikings decided (rightfully so) that even if his career was a couple years shorter those years would be worth the pick. Not every player is built for a 15 year career, they still can
help win a championship…
Taylor is experiencing the agony of de feet!
