Am I the only one who’s bothered about teams smearing players’ reps and potentially costing them hundreds of thousands of dollars? I don’t think it would kill anyone if the draft were in the beginning of April after pro days and most team visit; it seems the past week or so the only draft news has been hearsay

But folks should take into account the teams with whom their sources are affiliated before swallowing the hook when it comes to rumors that could help fuel a slide to the team that inexplicably is willing to share otherwise confidential information.

Don’t forget, some teams also do the sucker-punch, being all positive about a player so that others think they’re actually being negative when really they’re being positive and thus getting teams to skip on someone.

You also have teams who get their draft boards emailed to the other 31 NFL teams or have a video of it unwittingly get out.
