Lions coach Jim Schwartz said he’d be “jacked as hell” if Detroit got to host a Monday Night Football game this season. He’s about to get jacked.
As details of the 2011 regular-season schedule are leaking out, FOX Sports Detroit reports that the Lions will host a Monday Night Football game against the Bears at Ford Field on October 10.
That’s the Lions’ first Monday Night Football Game in a decade. The last time they played on Monday night it was the third game of the Matt Millen era, in 2001, and the Rams beat them 35-0. Assuming ESPN keeps Millen on its Monday night pregame and postgame shows, he’ll be in the building for the October game against the Bears. I’m sure he’ll get a warm welcome from the fans in Detroit.
Detroit did have a Monday game last year, when damage to the Metrodome roof forced the Vikings to “host” a Monday night game in Detroit. But for Lions fans, the Bears game will be their first chance to see their own team on Monday night in just over 10 years.
