The Patriots have a good organization, the best coach, and one of the best QB’s in the NFL. The only problem is that the talent that they are drafting…..is not making a huge impact (besides Devin McCourty). It seems like in recent years BB has been stock piling picks, but not getting as much production out of them.

The Patriots need their first pick to be for their front 7, besides Vince Wilfork, they really have nothing going for them besides Tully Banta-Cain. The Patriots offense last year with Tom Brady was amazing, he won MVP over Vick for a reason, but the fact is their defense is terrible, and struggle against any team with any sort of offense. They need their first two picks to be in the front 7. They need another end, a pass rushing linebacker, and if they got Mark Ingram to top it all off, I will be legitimately afraid of them next year.

Pats defense struggled 07 on because it was too old. Last year it struggled because it was too young. And at least they were opportunistic with turnovers which had been a big problem along with red zone and third down D which still are issues. I have some hope now!
Yes they need a 5 tech and a stud OLB. Tully Banta Cain is meh and I wish they hadn’t felt a need to re-sign him.

I try not to be a homer and I DO admit that losing Pioli was my biggest single concern behind losing RAC and Weis and I think losing RAC and Weis definitely still hurts at times and that Pioli is a very good personnel guy but what they’ve done since those guys have left isn’t bad. Try naming me a single other franchise that has been continuously in the playoff hunt and hasn’t even had a losing or even .500 record since 2000 who has lost as many guys off their FO staff and coaching staff every year as the Pats have. You can’t.

Tons of high picks? What are you talking about? Mayo, Vollmer, McCourty, Hernandez, GRONKOWSKI, Spikes… and thats just in the last 2 or 3 years.

What about a pro bowl rookie cornerback, McCourty?

What about one of the best young tackles in the league, Seabatial Vollmer?

The rookie OLB Cunningham was also becoming a force by the end of the year. Before his screwup in not reporting his prescription meds, Spikes was becomeing a very good player.

Special teams has been revitalized by the speed of recent draftees.

The last two drafts in particular have been home runs

Belly knows he’s close to finding those few peices of the puzzle he needs

Look at it from our perspective:

So how would you describe this “fool”. Say you have a choice. You can have a Pro Bowl player (Seymour), or a poker chip worth a draft choice (unknown commodity). The player you traded away is selected to another Pro Bowl and your poker chip is still… a poker chip. I think I’d take the guaranteed Pro Bowl player.

With the way AD picks in the first round, we need all the sure bets we can get.
