There are soooo many holes to fill right now with more coming in the next year or two.

I believe that the Bengals should trade down and gain additional picks this year (loaded w linemen) and in the upcoming years.

One player, franchise or not, will not make this boat float. Swallow your pride and start rebuilding…be proactive instead waiting for the sky to fall.

There are two fatal flaws in your argument…

First Von Miller will be best as either a 3/4 OLB or a 4/3 DE. So, you won’t be able to move Rey inside by taking Miller. Miller’s most natural spot is already occupied by Odum. It would be a wasted pick. Not to mention the fact that there’s like a 99% chance he won’t be available at #4.

Also, Bob Sanders signed with the Chargers. Try again.

It’s just plain miserable being a Bengals fan though I like last year’s dps – replace all the divas and yellow bellies (Palmer) and start the process all over again. Maybe before we’re all dead..

Turd, I click on the PFT link for my Bengals thinking there will be some in depth analysis and what I get is a hastily written piece that I could have put together in 10 minutes.

No doubt our biggest need is a GM/owner. And we’ll never get to the Super Bowl with Mike Brown. Nuf said there. But some of you haters out there that think CIN is such a joke seem to forget 2 divisions in 5 years, and a sweep of PIT, CLE, BALT in 2009. Not exactly pushover material.

Yeah all that time practicing and come game time he shows just how bad he is. Jordan is not an NFL caliber QB.
This team could bring Hoodie into coach and it would not matter, even Hoodie could not overcome this supposed front office.

Here is what the Bengals need to do with the draft and the rest of the off season:
1st Rd- WR AJ Green Georgia
2nd Rd- QB Andy Dalton TCU/Christian Ponder FSU (depending on who’s there)
3rd Rd- RB Taiwan Jones E.Washington
4th Rd- OL John Moffit Wisconsin
5th Rd- S Robert Sands West Virginia
6th Rd and 7th Rd picks can add some depth in the trenches and maybe a linebacker.

Bring back Joseph and Benson, maybe sign a veteren QB (or keep Jordan on the roster, he is familiar with the players) to help the rookie. Move Rey Maluaga back to where he belongs MLB and maybe look to sign an OLB but Brandon Johnson would be a fine fit for now. The D-Line has some youngsters that are beginning to blossum so I wouldn’t focus on that in the early part of the draft.

Good idea with one small problem.

No team can sign any free agents until a new CBA is reached and they aren’t even scheduled to meet again until mid-May. The draft begins next Thursday.

What the Bengals need cannot be fixed in one draft (especially considering how terrible the Bengals draft record is). There are simply holes all over the field. If you’re being realistic they’re looking at a 2-4 year rebuilding project.

No QB, without at least two new starting OLinemen, can be successful in Cincy. Mike Brown does not understand (like like his father, who did) that the foundation for a consistently successful team is build from the trenches up.

It doesn’t matter how many skill positions you may have if you can’t protect the QB or open holes for the running game.

The bengals are not that bad as they may seem to be. If you trade the pick and move back you can add some more talented young bodies to this team. First, they need to figure out if Carson is really gonna retire or if they trade him, aftter the CBA is reached. Who is gonna want him? Next they need to figure out if taking a qb in round one is worth while. They don’t need A.J Green. They can find good recieviers later rounds of this draft. I see the Bengals as a team that may look to fill the OL, OR DL, in the first round. Then again, they could take a QB. Whatever happens at least the owner looks stupid when his draft picks get into legal trouble!!

The ‘safest answer’ at QB is to draft an unproven NCAA player like Blaine Gabbert, and pay him 12 million a year?

Really? That’s an interesting perspective indeed.

My approach would be to grab a 2nd tier NFL vet and pay him 1/3 of that, all while taking a high prospect defensive player with the 4th overall pick. Makes much more sense to me.

They won’t draft a QB in the high rounds unless someone really slips. They can’t. They would lose all leverage with Palmer and in trades.
They also need a penetrating D-lineman. They were good in 09 because they had guys in the QBs face.
RG & RT are needs also. Could be either / or if Andre Smith is healthy. He could prob play RG if they drafted a good T.
I would love to see them grab Von Miller. They could slide Rey inside where he may be more comfortable and you improve 2 spots with one pick.
Safety is a big need but I don’t think this draft is going to solve it. They should take a chance on Bob Sanders.

our biggest team need is a GM. i also doubt we take a qb at 4, if we do, i’ll cheer him on, but i dont think we will. this is also the first mention ive seen of AJ Green potentially being a bust… i know they all have the capability, but… just sayin’ seems to be a lot bigger risk of that at qb at the 4th pick

The logical (OK it’s Cincy, I know) move would be to try to use Carson Palmer to jump into the #2 and grab Gabbert, although I would pity Blaine if they did that. It’s a wasteland where promising QB careers go to die. The #4 would probably still yield Dareus for the Bronc’s.
