Rams not looking to trade, like their options at 14

Last year the Rams knew well in advance that they’d use their first-round draft pick, the first pick overall, on quarterback Sam Bradford. This year the Rams can only guess about who will still be on the board when their first-round draft pick, the 14th pick overall, comes up.

But Rams General Manager Billy Devaney says he’s going to be completely content to stay at 14 and take the best player available.

“There are more scenarios that we’re playing with at 14. But we have a decent feel for the possibilities. We’ll just be ready to react however it falls,” Devaney said. “But chances are, we’re going to stay right at 14, and we’ll be fine. We have a really good feeling that there will be a couple of guys there that we’ll be thrilled to have. It’s probably not worth our while to give up picks to make a move to go get a particular guy.”

The Rams obviously won’t take a quarterback in the first round, but other than that they’re going to be content to take the top talent available, regardless of position. And with the 14th pick, they think there are at least 14 players they’d be happy to have.

“We’re going to take the same approach we’ve taken in years past: pick the best player available,” Devaney said. “And we’re going to let our board drive us to that player, take us there.”

They could possibly have decent WR talent fall to them in the 2nd round or move up to the top of the 2nd and possibly snag that Baldwin dude from Pitt I am guessing.

Everybody wants out of the top 10, a sign of the times.

Does anyone remember how everyone in the comment section on this site guaranteed Bradford would be hurt the 1st time he got hit in the NFL? What a bunch of dumbasses.

I don’t take at face value anything a GM says about the draft when it is just a week away. No matter what they say, they will do what they want.

I smell a possible smokescreen here. I think Devaney watches the flow of of the first 6-7 picks then trys a trade up with Houston or Dallas to snag Jones

Yea I was one of those dumbasses. I didn’t guarantee he would be injured the first big hit, but I called him glass joe a few times.
