Newton is a joke! A liar, cheater, and thief! Anybody that chooses him will be sorry they did! First off let's look at QB like him that was before him Vince young how has his great NFL career been? Both Vick brothers really what have they done??? Newton will be another big NCAA football big head thinking his sh!t don't stink and he is untouchable till he falls flat on his face and all you stupid Auburn and Newton fans will turn on him and say I knew that was going happen! Grow up and see the truth about him he is not that good. Oregan's D pretty much stopped him he was putting numbers up like he did to other sec teams. Auburn and Newton was just plan lucky to championship. The school will be on suspension or probation for years to come after this and national title taken away.

5 years from now I think Ponder will be considered the best QB from this draft.
===========================
or he'll be Chad Pennington 2.0 ...may get you into a playoffs, then eventually get hurt trying to do too much to overcompensate for a weak arm...

There is no way the Bungals don’t screw the pooch and NOT pick $cam Newton with the #4 pick. By working out these QB’s the coaching staff is desperately trying to get Mikey Boy Brown to see that there is sunshine after the rain of his tears if the Panthers set themselves back even further and draft $cam first. They’ll probably pick Green or that horrible kid with the degenerative knee condition from Clemson. There is no way they trade back into the 1st-round by giving up picks when Mikey Boy cherishes those picks to pluck cheap, questionable character guys he can pay less to fill holes and shoe-sting a team together. Besides, there is always going to be a time to sign available “talent” the likes of Neil O’Donnel, Scott Mitchell, Gus Frerotte, Shane Mathews…which always worked out for Mikey Boy in the past.
-------------------------
Yeah, guys with "questionable character" ain't given a chance to grow up like those others who do immature stuff like sit on a woman's face while she's examining him while he's in college. Nope, we don't give guys like Cam a second chance but we damn sure give it easily to the Peyton Mannings of the world.

I guess you must be confusing the sports media placing Cam's name in almost every negative spinned article so folks can respond the same ask "liking" him. Maybe it's your blind hate for him that is clouding your vision.

The Bengals should not take a qb at 4 no matter what. When you pick that high in this draft there's too much risk with qbs. The Bengals do not want to draft a guy and pay him a ton if he's not that much different than the 4 qbs after him.

Therefore they are smart not taking a qb and taking the 2nd round risk that they all may be gone.

AJ Green is the right pick. The guy is almost a sure thing.

Eventually this lockout will be over and trades will happen. They will get a shot at a qb one way or another.

If not they are still better off with Green than a qb who doesn't pan out.

according to the draft chart your suggestion makes sense with them getting the 2nd 4th 5th (its only behind the value of the 25th by 25 points which is nothing) but i think carroll and the G.M would want to be on drugs to do it.....at 35 they potentially miss their shot at a qb they like due to the panic buttons getting pressed the second a qb not named gabbert or newton goes off the board, and at 25 guys in positions of need like jimmy smith at cb and almost certainly brandon harris aaron williams, any of the offensive linemen bar smith and pouncey, and at least one faller from the talented DE class will all quite likely be on the board for them to take....if i was a hawks fan I'd be much much happier to stay put rather than risk 5-6 prospects for the sake of an extra 4th 5th

"The logic of drafting a receiver before a quarterback is obviously flawed"

Calvin Johnson before Matt Stafford
Roddy White before Matt Ryan
Andre Johnson before Matt Schaub
Larry Fitzgerald before Kurt Warner (Granted he wasn't young)

Need I go on?

You throw on young QB into the Bengals lineup and he will get chewed up by the AFCN defenses (Similar to David Carr in Houston).

You get a WR of AJ Green's caliber and that young QB at least has a chance to succeed. It's not like he's walking into the Rams situation with the NFC West...

You sound pretty sure, but they are the ones making football decisions for a living. If they can get the WR they want and a qb they like(and maybe think is more ready to play right away) why not draft the top WR first and the QB you like later? PFT I guess assumes everyone likes Newton. I'd take Ponder every time over Newton. You might not get the flash, but I don't think Ponder is capable of being a bust. Just my opinion. I sure hope the Skins can get Ponder.

With Seahawks the only real threat to take a QB after Jacksonville at 16, the best way to ensure you get the QB you want is to trade with them, not after them, taking the chance that they select the guy you want. The good news is that Seattle will probably be willing to discount heavily, so Cincy could probably move from 35 to 25 for only a 4th and 5th rounder, retaining their 3rd. Or simply swapping their 3rd (66) for Seattles 4th (99).

I've been saying for over a week now that if you listen to what Leslie Frazier's all about - leadership and dedication - that he has been won over by Christian Ponder.

Ponder reminds me of Drew Brees and actually - I believe - has more arm strength than Brees and throws better on the run. I'm not saying he'll have a better career than Drew Brees but he could be the best QB of this class (I still have Gabbert ahead of him and Newton just behind him as one tier) if he ends up with the right offense, like Drew did in New Orleans.

Carson Palmer has $80 million reasons not to come back to the Bengals.

No it isn't. The one person we can trust not to be foolish enough to trade the farm to get back in the first for qb's that many had as 3rd/4th round picks 3 months ago is Mike Brown. Not because he doesn't beleive they are good, but because he cherishes his picks.

Possibly 6 qb's supposedly going in the first round after people (scouts and pundits) claimed there was no franchise QB's after luck declared (or didn't) and that this was the worst QB class in years should be remembered. I certainly hope Mike Brown does.

Can't help but think that Belichick, with those 17th and 28th picks, and the way he typically approaches the draft, will fleece somebody looking for QB help.
The potential for no free agency this season is making teams with Quarterbacking needs desperate.
Great draft to be a second-tier QB prospect.
