my bad on the b.f. part, thought I read that. I think Talib has issues, no doubt. I just think that the NFL, in their attempt to clean up the game have started to punish players before they have actually been convicted of a crime. I know there have been cases where the player was never convicted but got suspended because of a pattern of bad behavior. I also have a a issue with people saying the Bucs are the bad boys of the NFL. Josh Freeman, is one of the hardest working, down to earth, humble, up and coming stars of the NFL. Ronde, Barret Ruud, even K2 have been model citizen’s in Tampa!

I have not read the police report, but it seems like this person has. I love how people who have no Idea of what the facts are and want to throw someone under the bus. I agree with Talib’s past, it is easy to assume he is gulity. If what the person above said is true. If your sister was being beaten up by her scumbag boyfriend, would you sit back and do nothing? I would whoop that mans ass!

I wonder if he stated this while he was there???? These lames kill when they leave a team then start running off at the mouth about what went wrong. He should have brought thisis up while he was a member of the team. That’s why you have to appreciate guys like T.O. air stuff out while your still there.

but their also building a double-edged sword….

How many other teams built around talented guys with character issues went down in flames?
Vikings (back in the Culpepper/Moss 01-05 loveboat days)
bengals ….marvin lewis era (that dude is still hired)
titans with pacman and albertworthless stomping faces age….
idk if the T.O. cowboys count, but eitherway the bucs should probably try leaning more on “Good” character talents….

Im willing to bet that the NFL and all other sports leagues hire the highest amount of felons than any other entity in the world, it’s ok to play football on tv and have millions of kids looking up to you after you just killed a man drunk driving, but you cant stack boxes or work in a mailroom after the same conviction, the hypocrisy of this nation is ridiculous.

I used to hate Hovan. He was a pretentious, no talent, overrated waste of good air. I loved seeing fans spit on him at that Packer Viking game back in the day. However this is the first good thing to come out of his mouth I’ve ever seen. Talib should be euthanized for the good of society and fast before he reproduces.

It’s refreshing to hear a player (recently retired/current/former etc…) call out an organization that clearly puts character on the bottom of the list when looking at players. Hovan should be lauded for this.

After looking up Talib’s past problems….

What a complete ghetto trash d bag.
Anyone have an over/under on how long before he kills someone? I say less than 5 years or about when he’s out of money and NFL chances.

People looking for trouble ain’t near as tough as the ones waiting for it. Talib looks for trouble so often that he stays in trouble with the law. That’s a fact. Deleting my post that says that doesn’t change that fact. And one day, he will bully someone waiting for trouble and he will be taken to task. And then the Bucs will have egg on their face for not giving the kid either some help or the boot! Geaux Saints!

As a Bengals fan, this is eerily similar to the 2005 Bengals. Great young nucleus of young players, but many of the core players have “character” issues… The problem is, like in Cincinnati, the off-field stuff will eventually catch up to the on-field performance. we were ready to build around guys like Chris Henry and Odell Thurman. They were superstars in the making. Now, six years later, we have 2 playoff appearances and ZERO playoff wins to show for it. Henry is dead, Thurmann is out of the league, Carson Palmer has threatened retirement if he’s not traded and Chad Ochocinco looks to be gone as well… and we’re selecting fourth in the draft.

Here is the thing. Talib is an “on the field” asset to the Bucs. He is an “off the field” PR nightmare.
As long as one out weighs the other he will stay. So far his talent has kept him afloat. It may be an extra long off season so if he follows the path he is on now he should make it easy for the Bucs to turn him loose.

The Bucs are following the rule that goes through most of the NFL. “Everyone will be treated fairly, but not the same”. Talent trumps a lot, but the minute Talib can’t help The Bucs he will be gone. He is under the illusion they care for him as a person, he will find out. They won’t even answer his phone calls after his talent is gone. The Bucs are compromised & Talib is being diminished as a person. (Even More) He will pay the piper one day………..

As soon as he gets hurt and/or slows down he will be shown the door and they will THEN play the “he is a bad guy and we don’t tolerate bad guys here” card in the press release.
