Jermichael Finley is running routes again

Jermichael Finley AP

2010 didn’t turn out to be the “Year of the Takeover” for Jermichael Finley like he planned, but he’s making progress towards a rebound.

Finley ran routes on Friday for the first time since injuring his knee last October.  A league source named Jermichael Finley said he looked awesome.

“Today was the first time since Week 5 that I caught a ball & ran routes. An my my my I look good,” Finley wrote.

As we wrote last week, Finley needs to prove he can stay healthy before the Packers hand over a big contract extension.

No, but it was Yotto for GB.

Hope he can and the rest of the Pack can stay healthier this season.

Looking forward to his domination of defenses this year…that is if there is a year…

    Think about it!

Finley practicing his newspaper route. It’s the only job experience he has other than football.

Whats that famous TO saying? I love me some me. That what I hear almost everytime Jmike opens his mouth(or types on the keyboard).

I love the guys confidence and skills but I fear he may be the next TO in waiting. His injuries may be the only thing keeping that from being a reality already.

If your reading this Jermichael please stay humble and don’t become the guy that people love to hate. Everyone knows your incredibly talented, you don’t have to tell them that.

If the Packers were able to win the Superbowl without their supposed ‘elite’ tight-end and running back Ryan Grant… who needs him? We’ll just end up blowing 5-6 million on him for no good reason.

Is a TE that catches 70 passes a year worth 6 million when we can use our reliable run-blocking TEs that’ll haul in 40-50 passes a year for much cheaper.

TT, draft another WR, so that we’ll have 3 premiere pass-catching targets and let Finley go after this year.

I agree we may have to let Finley go but only if he wants a big time contract. Everybody seems to think he will but people need to remember if he goes somewhere else it is not Rodgers throwing him the ball. It could be Joe Webb, or even Cutler throwing him the ball and that would suck. Hopefully Finley recognizes this.

better he run routes then run his mouth

Ahem to the doubters. Finley is a wide receiver in a tight ends body. Before he got hurt he led the league in yardage among all tight ends. If anyone thinks the Packers don’t need Finley they are delusional! Both Quarless and Lee struggled in Finley’s absence.

Top 5 TE if he stays healthy next year. Just hope he keeps his ego in check

There aren’t many Pack fans I disagree with but dude you are clueless.

my reaction to the headline of this story was “hey good for him, ’bout time he ran something other than his mouth.”

then i read the article. i guess that’s just finley being finley? love watching him play, but he’s almost unbearable.

This guys attitude will end up hurting his career. He never sounds like a winner, only trouble. As a 4 X consecutive Fantasy Championship appearances and current 2 X BACK TO BACK CHAMP, i will leave him off my roster.

This is easily the worst retort ever posted on any football board.

    YEAH! PAPER ROUTE BIATCH!

I don’t think folks that think the Pack doesn’t need Finley and his antics are delusional. We did just win the Super Bowl without the guy, so…

Are we a better team with him? Sure, I’d buy that argument for the moment… But if he continues being a distraction, he’s TO redux and TO only wears rings he bought for himself with fat stupid FA money teams were willing to spend on their “missing piece”.

  16. packersrule52 says: Apr 22, 2011 5:15 PM

renaissanceman87- Did you see Finley in 2009? The dude is a beast. He’s 6’6″ 240 lbs but runs like a receiver. McCarthy can use him down on the line, in the slot, or flanked out wide. He creates all sorts of mismatches out there, and really opens things up for the WR corps. As long as we have Rodgers, Jennings, and Finley, the offense is constantly going to be one of the best in the league.

The only way we get rid of Finley is if he gets hurt again this season.

I hope Donald Driver and Greg Jennings rub off on Jermichael Finley. Would love to see another first class Packer.

  18. footballrulz says: Apr 22, 2011 6:11 PM

What bothers me most about Finley is when he was playing last year it appeared Aaron was trying to get the ball to him at all costs. Hopefully he realizes that Finley is only one of his receivers. Not the only receiver. Finley stays healthy & Rodgers spreads the ball around Packers should have a very good year–provided there is one.

  19. bmue42 says: Apr 22, 2011 6:29 PM

TT pays his guys, finley will get his dough and remain in GB, for how long? who knows? i think TT will get him to sign at least one contract

  20. deconjonesbitchslap says: Apr 22, 2011 7:01 PM

the packers offense is better without Finely. It was proven when he got hurt; Jennings got more passes, Rodgers didn’t get sacked as much because he wasn’t holding onto the ball as long, and the offnese involved jones and nelson much more.

if they are smart, they trade him for a very high pick. they simply do not need him to succeed, and they proved it last season.

Yet the packers still won the Super Bowl without him. Go figure..
