Well, that was fast.
With Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall recovering from surgery after being stabbed in the stomach, his wife, Michi, has been arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Andrew Carter of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Jay Glazer of FOX previously reported that neither Marshall nor his wife were talking about the incident. Initially, it was believed that Marshall’s wife threw something at him -- a lamp or a vase -- that it shattered, and that he was impaled by a piece of it. Doctors then concluded that Marshall was indeed stabbed by a knife.
If Marshall won’t cooperate, it could be hard to get a conviction. Reasonable doubt is all that’s needed for an acquittal, and with no testimony from the victim or the alleged assailant, it will be very hard to overcome that very high standard.
UPDATE: Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports that Michi Marshall remains in jail, on $7,500 bail. Volin also has obtained Michi Marshall’s mugshot from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, which actually has applied a copyright symbol to the image. (Hopefully, the folks at Alka-Seltzer won’t try to put it on one of their boxes.)
