Ingram would be nice, but only at 28 or 33, and he won’t be there.

Pats should take Cameron Jordan at 17, Ryan Williams (RB VA Tech) or Mikel Leshoure at 28, and Ben Ijalana at 33.

Add Ingram with Welker, Hernandez, Gronk, Branch, Faulk, BJGE, and maybe a speedster WR like Edmond Gates at Brady’s disposal and that could drive DCs crazy

I don’t want Ingram. He only carried the ball 14 times a game. I don’t think he is that special player. Can get a real good back in the second or third round. Give me a front seven player with 17, and hopefully one of the stud O tackles with 28. Then can get some bounty overnite with the 33rd pick. OL and DL can step in and play quickly. They already have a young team, so we don’t need more rookies.

Some first round ranked prospects also failed drug tests this year, at the Combine and elsewhere. Not saying the Ben Johnson look alike is one of the culprits, but you never know.

The Patriots will be looking at the front 7 defensively when Ingram figures to be still on the board.

Sure its nice to picture him in the Patriots backfield, but that really is fantasy football.

For all the talk about Corey Dillon the Patriots won two SB’s with Antowain Smith as their leading rusher.

The nasty D is where its at.

Supposedly Ingram’s stock has risen over the past few weeks and he’s not expected to be available when New England selects at #17. Obviously we’ll find out on Thursday.

i am not a pats fan, but one of my best friends is so by default i have some interest in them. i agree completely with this article and although a lot of people would say the pats should draft defense and offensive line i think they should go in the ‘deadly’ direction with their first round picks.
first, i think if julio jones is still on the board, the pats should trade up their #17 with the Vikes for their #12 pick. vikes get a late second or a high third and still can draft a QB at #17 (i say mallett or kaepernick), brady gets a monster of a receiving threat. then at #28 the pats draft ingram after pushing his stock down so that he is still available at this point. ingram is absolutely the kind of RB the pats are looking for. he is explosive, smart and can pound the ball in any gap, tackle to tackle as the article says. their offense was already potent last year, they add these two players and brady becomes nearly unstoppable.
people will point out that the pats defense is what let them down last year, but they drafted mostly defense last year, they had a lot of young guys out there who will improve this year, this is a very deep defensive draft and the pats have ridiculous number of picks coming to them in the first three rounds.

He could be what the Pats need, but they really need an OLB/pass rusher, an offensive lineman and a 5 technique DE. There are other high end backs to be had in rounds 2 and 3.

Ingram is an average back at best. If the Pats use a 1st or 2nd on him, they will have wasted those picks
