Most of us, if we heard that a co-worker had been stabbed by his wife, would be shocked. But maybe not if the co-worker was Brandon Marshall.
Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald writes that when he texted a Dolphins player Saturday morning to tell him the news, that teammate of Marshall’s replied, “And this is supposed to surprise me how?”
That may be insensitive, considering that Marshall is, after all, a victim of domestic violence: His wife has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for sticking a knife into his abdomen. But Marshall has a long track record of getting involved in domestic disputes and other off-field problems, and so it wouldn’t be surprising if many Dolphins players had the same response that the unnamed teammate gave to Salguero.
Another unnamed source on the Dolphins told Salguero the situation is “very frustrating.” It would also be very surprising if the Dolphins didn’t think, when they acquired Marshall from Denver, that a time would come when they’d be dealing with off-field issues that he brought with him.
