Only five days after former Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall was stabbed, current Broncos defensive end Jason Hunter was stabbed, according to the Denver Post.

Hunter has been hospitalized, but no other details are available.

He joined the team last year as a free agent.  Against the Chiefs in 2010, Hunter returned a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown.

UPDATE:  The Broncos have issued a statement regarding the incident.  “We are aware of the reports regarding Jason Hunter and are currently in the process of gathering information and reviewing the facts,” the team said.  “Our thoughts are with Jason, and we are hopeful he makes a quick recovery.  Out of respect for his privacy, we will not have additional comment on the matter at this time.”

Fascinating… I would have thought during the lockout more people would have been getting shot than stabbed. Color me surprised!

Hey, that’s life in the NFL… You return fumbles for TD’s one day, shot by your mistress, thrown out the back of a truck or stabbed by your wife the next.

It be a rough league, yo.

Did Marshall’s wife stab him too?

Even if there is a CBA agreement, we still might not have a NFL season because all the NFL players will be dead!!! Guys get a hobby.

Damn, I was hoping we could go 7 days between stabbings…reset the clock.

The NFL has a long tradition of knife related violence, just ask League sanctioned diety and born again role model Ray Lewis.

Just as the N in Nebraska stands for Knowledge the N in NFL stands for Knife-fighting.

When its “off season” for football players, is it hunting season on football players sort of like deer season? Sometimes you just wonder…

    Lot of that going around.

  16. conseannery says: Apr 27, 2011 2:21 PM

You need to change the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker to “Days Without A Stabbing.”

Joking aside, I hope the guy’s ok.

The big difference is that Jason Hunter has been a good person since entering the league, Marshall has not. Thoughts go out to him.

Well it looks like the Broncos are gonna take a DE now… Maybe they should take Robert Quinn, I wouldn’t wanna try to stab that guy…

When the players have to much time on their hands, the true proffesional comes out.

Can’t someone involved in the NFL labor mess somehow declare a “knifeout?”

….and another one bites the dust. Good job, Judge Nelson, giving away the bank to these low life’s.

“WXYZ reported that Hunter was driven to Detroit Receiving Hospital by someone he knows, after his 23-year-old girlfriend stabbed him this morning.

Detroit police took Hunter’s girlfriend into custody and told WXYZ that she was facing charges including felonious assault. Investigators later said the woman would not be arraigned on the charges because Hunter does not want to pursue the matter.”

There you have it. Domestic assault. I bet she found out about a mistress, git pissed off, and reached for a knife and swung for the fences.
